Any developments on our new manager? It's all gone very quiet lately.

According to Kildare GAA boards the front runners are 1) Ronan Quinn, Brian Murphy, Dermot Earley and Anthony Rainbow. 2) Glenn Ryan and 3) John Evans.

John Evans would be my man, but it's all about keeping the cost down.

Lilywhite1, who's rumoured to be in charge out of that group? I don't like the idea of joint managers. There needs to be a boss. It's important to get a good team around you but there needs to be one man only who makes the big decisions.

There will be a player revolt if Quinn got it.

I'd say Glen would have said yes by now if he wanted it. He's the front runner but must have been approached weeks back. probably has some demands that are not likely to be met or has a conflict with CB members. He has some experience. Dermot and Anthony are legends, I'd hate to see them being slated by the fans but I know they would get as much criticism as anyone after a hiding from Dublin in the championship so think they would be mad to take it on. Evans talks to the media too much but hopefully he has learned from the wild statements he made and can bring what he learned from inter county management to the table.

If our main concern is "keeping the cost down" then we can forget about being competitive. We should put our energy into fundraising rather than cutting corners.

It appears that it is a Ronan Quinn headed group. Agree with you Count_Awesome if the criterian for picking the Manager is based on cost we may as well give up. Get the right man and the funding will follow if a serious and professional attitude is taken to fundraising.

Cost is always a factor when we are concerned .The debt cant be ignored. Therefore we will struggle for quality and have to settle for mediocrity.

Seems like Glen Ryan is likely to be announced shortly as new manager. I certainly would take issue with anyone who uses the word "mediocrity" in the same sentence with his name. If he can get a few of the former Kildare players on board then we can have a quality outfit at a comparatively low cost.
There is a fine line in looking clever and incompetent in management. Look at the recent results of Kerry and Chelsea or even Cork with seconds to go in the Munster final. Lets give the new man a chance and get behind him.

Agree murof. While it remains to seen around tactics etc, I think Glen will be good for putting steel into the side-- watching players waltz through our defence for goals without a hand laid on them won't be tolerated under Glen and that is a start at least. I just hope fans don't forget what he did for us as a player when offering up their judgements in defeat.

Yes I'm hearing that Glenn Ryan is possibly to be announced as manager at next Tuesday's County Board meeting. If that is the case let's get behind him. I think you're right Switec and the waltzing through the defence that we have had to witness for the last couple of years will be a thing of the past. I heard some say that Glenn is old fashioned and is not up to the standard or the professionalism of the modern manager. Fitzmaurice was held up to be the epitomy of the modern manager until two weeks ago.
I doubt Glenn will leave anything to chance in terms of team preparation etc. It will be interesting who his backroom team is. But the important thing in my opinion is the man himself, his contribution to the Kildare cause, the fact that he has managerial experience, and his ability to lift players to give everything for the jersey will be factors that will see Kildare a team transformed come next year's championship with a further influx of new blood.

I hear Glen is the man....absolutely delighted.. the guy was a legend as a player, and did a great job with the u21 before heading to Longford. Did a very good job there, and if any one can unite the county, it has to be one of our finest ever players.A born leader who always led by example, both on and off the field.
It will take time, I'm sure, but I for one am thrilled...

The only way is up. Glenn can help bring about an improvement.

It now appears that Glenn Ryan will not be the next manager. Tommy Callaghan has just tweeted that he will not be manager. The County Chairman has put his personal differences ahead of the good of Kildare football. Those who stood by this decision should hang their heads in shame.

It now looks that Cian O'Neill is in pole position to take the job. What an interesting 24 hours!

Looks like two top class appointments in the making, well done to all involved, o'Neil is greatly respected in both Kerry and Mayo and came across very well on 1st interview on KFM earlier. Future looks that little bit brighter..
