What a narrow minded opinion ro think some lads play better football for Galway because they are from a senior club. Is that why Shane Walsh is not in ur team

Replying To PressureKick:  "McDaid is 21, has played about 4 games for Galway and was one of the few bright sparks of last season. How on earth would he be on his last chance?"
Once McDaid gets a run in the the team we'll see his real quality, based on talent he's a potential All Star if he fulfils it.

The problem areas are still the backs and midfield areas in particular. There are many options in the forwards but even they could be more effective and efficient in taking their chances. Looking at the FBD game against Mayo last Sunday, Mayo players seemed to have a lot of possession and easily worked it up into very scoreable positions without too much pressure being put on them. That won't do if Galway want to stay in Div 1 and to have a real cut at the AI in 2020.

i see a lot of predicted league line ups but what about the fbd final first!!!

i can see kw giving a chance to a number of other players in the fbd final
conor campbell, rob finnerty and anyone else involved with nuig?
gleeson should get another run out with bernie still corofin tied
would like to see comer get at least a half and conroy another full game- maybe at midfield with fintan now out and likely not the answe anyway
god should prob get another go at full back if he sees him as potentially there but for me on harder ground and with no sweeper or massed defence he would get exposed in that posuition
wouuld be great for confidence of players and management to win in the hyde fbd or not!!!

om a side note i think we need a different touchline runner!!! scan was leggy after about 20 minutes the last day

Is that "kw" a Freudian slip? ;)

Agree with most of that. A few early wins will build confidence and get the lads to believing more in what PJ is trying to build.
The league will be another step up, but we've competed well in division 1 since going up.

Kw? What's the eir code to that rock you've been under?
PJ needs to test as many players he can, I heard everyone outside the match day squad had training Sunday morning but player need the heat of battle

Young Gleeson looks a very good goalie and I would have a lot more faith in him than either of his predecessors. The only thing he needs to work on (after watching last Sunday's penalty shootout) is to save penalties from left footed players! ;-)

Power will be first choice when he returns I'd imagine with Gleeson and O'Beolain battling it out for sub keeper. Gleeson had good game on sunday

Galway team named. 6 rookies including two in the full back line, and a number of other experienced names left off. Roscommon should surely fancy their chances with a similar team to the last day. Still plenty of interesting Galway newcomers. Everyone in the county wants a proper look at young Mulkerrin at full back, and Robert Finnerty comes in in great form. Good opportunity for Darcy with loads of lads missing at midfield. Change of goalkeeper seems a bit odd pre national league

Cathal silke wing back and Ian Burke wing forward?? ? These guys are good in their specialised position but just because they wear a yellow Jersey doesn't mean you have to accommodate them into a Galway team.

Last Sunday we made 11 changes to starting team giving county debuts 6 players. A 7th lad was only playing his 2nd ever senior game.

I'd expect we'll have experimental team once again this Saturday, it's what the FBD is for and this is the last chance for newbies to put their hand up to be included in the round 1 NFL match day panel.

Galway have named a team with a solid spine, Mulkerrin tipped to be your future full back, John Daly the championship no 6. Two natural midfielders in Darcy and Flynn, Daly at 11 and Walsh.

Nearly as narrow minded as the people that think someone's address is the difference in a good or bad footballer, it seems to be most important thing to lots of people on here which side of the lake a lad is from over his overall footballing ability

Great to see teams being announced a few days in advance of the games, hope theres continuity here. The same could not be said for the previous management.

Big game for Darcy on Sunday, we need him to be a viable option at midfield. Great to see Finnerty getting a chance from the start. Comer should get another 10-15 minutes to sharpen up before Monaghan game.

Good to see changes again, although I thought Boyle was average last week, Padhraig been very loyal there...
Roscommon will field a very strong team again and be favourites

Oh my God.. we're not gone back to that west v north again. I was saying that a good player doesn't necessarily have to be from a senior club. One point I do agree with is players should be picked on their football skills and ability That club can be north or west. One thing for sure Shane Walsh has that football skills and ability in abundance.
