Replying To RicoSuave:  "Unfortunately you would appear to be on the money. They must be struggling for numbers massively if GOD is selected at FB - just because a lad appears to be losing his legs as the years slip away from him, doesn't automatically mean he should be thrust straight into the FB line. Branningan on the panel is lapse in judgement but selecting him at wing back is laughable altogether."
Go out to Loughgeorge and watch them training then.
He's easily one of the best players on show, pace, power and mobility...tailor made for wing back

His tackling as we witnessed against Mayo last year is a real strong point, a contender for no 2/4 even.

GOD being written off before the game has been played despite the fact in our last championship match he was one of the very few on the team who actually played well

God deserves a try out at 3....with the offensive mark in play aerial prowess will be important

hopefully sean andy will come back in if he has in fact been axed
good to see a new goalkeeper being tried
need to develop a consistent free taker- not shane walsh

Will that team come anywhere near winning Sam in August.

Replying To The_analyser:  "With a new manager in place how many of those Corofin players are Galway supporters expecting to start? Ian Burke and Liam Silke the obvious ones.

Strong Galway team for Sunday but playing natural forwards in defence would remind me of McStay tactics with us which more often than not led to big scores conceded."
One natural forward playing wing back, where he has played numerous times before for club

The only thing I care about is div1 at the moment. It'll set us back years if we drop.

I appreciate management have to aim higher than the one they are replacing so Sam has to be the end goal, but I hope all eyes are staying in Div 1. It wont be an easy task

It's the FBD then the league a chance to give every squad member a chance to claim a Jersey come championship. Retaining our D1 status is a must though.

So reaching a county final is your criteria for team captaincy is it?
Such a load of nonsense.

Its not my criteria, take Kerry in Football & Kilkenny in Hurling, its their policy to select their inter County captaincy from a senior club.

A lot of counties used to do it that way. But it's had its day. Only have to see in Kerry where subs are the team captains for a year. Galway Hurlers and footballers moved away from this policy a number of years ago and it was the correct decision imo.

I like the look of half back line. Hopefully they go well. Still have Molloy to come back so there will be plenty of competition for a starting spot.
Be interesting to see how GOD gets on.
Good to see us trying out things which is what FBD is all about.

Very strange decision appointing such a young player as captain. Does he possess the leadership skills to command respect in the group?? Could be putting to much pressure on a young mans shoulders and this could backfire. Sincerely hope I am wrong. Gaillimh abu.

Shane Walsh is 26 now. He's closer to 30 than 20.

Don't know if he'll be a good captain but he's no longer a young ladeen.
