Very poor last season, fitness looks to be the issue. He needs to get into shape.

I didn't buy into the Padraic Joyce hype and I think his backroom team leaves a huge amount to be desired. It will be fascinating to see how things go."
Rubbish, who did you want? There is alway one who live to see people failing.

There is some amount of rubbish being posted here. People making up stuff (bar talk) It is the first week in January. Nobody is cut, several players are on individual programmes, I saw one player myself not a week ago wearing a space boot he has had some sort of surgery. The County Champion winning teams aren't available due to club semi finals, players on college scholarships have to commit to Sigerson. Challenge games are about trying things out.

Very true. No one ever said PJ was going to be the missah but in fairness Kevin did get 5 yrs, and it was time for change. Ur right galway loose a challenge game and the daggers are out straight away.

It would actually be very useful if Galway GAA released an official training squad and then released when squad cuts are made much like the IRFU do. It would stop a lot of the bullshit and made up rumours flying about.

Cork have been battering teams in the McGrath Cup and will be desperate to get out of Division 3 so logically they are going to be miles ahead of us in terms of preparation and work done so far. I wouldnt be reading anything into our performances until at least 2 or 3 games into the league. By then we will have a better idea of what we are working with.

by all accounts it was totally experimental and a lot of last years under 20s involved....a lot of changes at half time and throughout....
wouldnt look into it too much
fbd v mayo will be a lot more informative

Doubt there be much learned in FBD match v mayo with college players missing as they playing Ucc on Sunday as well and corofin players missing and Oughterard lads also missing , I woukd imagine most of the lads who would have got game time on Sunday be missing for reasons stated above , the Galway management won't evrn get see the NUIG match as not enough time between matches

U may end up being right but to be basing any assessment on a challenge game in January that no one seems to have witnessed seems to be slightly pessimistic! Often these are not normal games. Sometimes 3 30 minute periods and rolling subs. Results can be very misleading

Sean Andy is certainly good enough but his performances last year were not. Slowed him down and he looked sluggish in a lot of games. Never first to the ball like he was the year before.

Yeah, we should have centralised contracts aswell and a fast and loose attitude towards testing.

At his best he is definitely good enough agreed last year he wasnt anywhere near that

Disappointed to see him cut but management should be judging on current form only and it appears they are

was he cut though?? if we have a better fb in the county then great. i'd find it hard to believe he was cut unless there is some issue

I'd be surprised if he was cut.

Mulkerrin is not the answer. Sean Andy needs to get fit that in my opinion is his biggest problem.

Sean Andy walked from panel. Didn't want to get brought on in a training game and walked into the dressing room. Happened a few weeks back and not sure if he has come back. PJ said either go out there and play or tog in. Togged in and never returned

if this is true it is worrying.... the modern player rightly or wrongly needs to be handled differently than the previous generation
if the guy wasnt right he shouldnt have had to play
equally we cant afford to be losing the like of him
