Cooke confirmed as being unavailable this year as he's going to the US.

That's a loss. Kicked 0-4 from play against Mayo. I think there would have been hopes that he would have finally claimed a starting place this year.

Cooke would be a very big loss imo. Still very young and huge potential for this year. It's a test of Joyce and Divo's powers of convincing to see if they can get him to stick around.
I don't believe the cop out that so many managers say along the lines of 'sure if they want to go, you can't stop them'. You can - by convincing them and getting them to believe that it's worth sticking around for something big this year.

Cooke is a loss alright it's a pity if he's away. One thing we are quite blessed with however is decent strength in depth. Plenty of other options in the midfield / half forward areas.

One thing you'd say for Mayo is they never seem to lose any players off travelling for the year. They all seem to stick around.

Cooke is gone for work. As in his career. Cummins made the decision to go travelling last year under previous management when he had become very disillusioned with the setup and his playing time. I don't think these two can be used as some sort of lack of desire inside the Galway panel.

Ciaran Duggan has had a recurrance of the knee injury that forced him to miss most of 2019.

How did the cork challenge game go and was it really necessary to change venues at the last minute to stop people going to see it?

Can't ye see why it was switched, and rumours of cancelled if it ever was down for Kinvara. The management aren't stupid ie there are a lot of people reading this forum and other sites. Ie do they want people at those matches who will go straight on those sites and name team and who's playing well etc. I should think not.

Would you like to purchase a tinfoil hat? I got one for Christmas and have never had much use for one. All in working order. Good price given.

No it definitely took place in Clare yesterday. I just haven't heard any reports from it. I think it's a bit ridiculous to be playing cloaks and daggers with venues in this way. What difference would it make if the public were able to get in to see the match or not.

That Galway v Cork challenge went ahead somewhere. Cork won 2-14 to 0-12 but don't know the teams other than it was an experimental Galway side.

Wasn't great last year but that would be very surprising. We're not exactly over endowed with options in the full-back line.

Hmmm. Beaten by 8 points. Not a great start. I may as well be honest here. I was never convinced about this appointment from the very start. I didn't buy into the Padraic Joyce hype and I think his backroom team leaves a huge amount to be desired. It will be fascinating to see how things go.
