Dublin v Meath

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I'd love to see it Adamski, but I really can't see anything other than a fairly big Dublin win. 9 points minimum.

BTW it's a fairly experienced Meath team all-in-all I would suggest.

Replying To Adamski:  "Why I am worried about this game? Just the inclement weather, a relatively inexperienced meath team, game at an unusual hour, media giving the royals no chance, we are all-ireland champions. It reminds so much me of 1996, don't know why but I have this nagging feeling we are in for a serious challenge sunday evening. Hopefully we won't let our standards slip which they did v laois in the second half. If we are 100% driven we should have enough to see us home but without a battle that will replicate game of thrones the other night!!!!"
The only thing in common with 96 is Dublin were All-Ireland Champs and we are playing Meath..

'96 was an ageing Dublin team coming to the end of the road against a coming Meath team that would eventually prove there worth by winning sam.... This is not a ageing Dublin team and this Meath team is no were near the quality of the meath team of '96.

The results of the last two weekends will focus the Dublin minds and Jim gavin doesn't do complacency.

I feel the only way we can lose this game is if we get a poor biased ref who goes out of there way to favour the underdog. Which happened last year against Fermanagh and against Mayo in the '13 final.

Dublin by 10

After the collapse against westmeath last year you have to wonder about the Meath players state of mind.

14 men behind the ball and keep the score down and rely on wallace's pace on the break.

I think dublin by 10 is a good call.

96???

Meath had a far better team in 96,lets list some names that played that day for Meath..

Mark O'Reilly
Darren Fay
John McDermott
Tommy Dowd
Trevor Giles
Graham Geraghty

We have no players on our team now that reach the standard of those..

1945, 1964, 1986, 1996 and 2016 or 2017 the years Meath knocked Dublin off their perch in leinster, came from nowhere and became the main force in leinster football. It what do best , Knocking the Dubs of their perch, Meath to win by 5 . Meath 3 -14 Dublin 0-15 Meath goals Newman Tormey and Wallace.

Meath are sbogey team in the last thirty five years Meath have had 10 wins and 6 draws v the Dubs in leinster, Next in line is Kerry with around 5 followed by the rest of Leinster on 4 . 9Killdare 2, Laois 1 and Westmeath 1) . They were all managed by Kerrymen. The last time a leinster team bet Dublin other then Meath and managed by a leinster manager was Eugeene McGee in 1982 with Offaly. If anyone is going Dublin it is going to be Meath.

fancy Dublin by a cricket score to be honest. Jim would not have been that happy with the last day's defending so Dublin will not concede much I guarantee it. Dublin forwards are capable of anything. Dublin 2-18 Meath 0-11

I backed Meath at 16/1 to win Leinster at the start of the year. Last time I bet against Dublin was when Donegal bet the Dubs. Ulster teams Kerry teams and Meath are not in awe of Dublin , do not have inferior complexs to Dublin. I'm not certain of a Meath win, how cud I. Bit I do believe they wil give the Dubs a real rattle. Because when Dublin are All Ireland champs. its happened 5 times 1977, 1984 and 2010 Dublin win by a couple and (Meath sud hav in 77 and 84). Or Meath beat all Ireland champios Dublin in 1964 and 1996. I think Dublin have peaked. I don't think this great Dublin team ( the team of the decade) will win another All Ireland. They mit win one , but that it. As this decade continues Dublin will get weaker Meath and Kildare and maybe Offaly will get stronger. While Westmeath and Laois have potential also. Dublin are not going to win the next five leinsters
