Doubt it. The team has moved on and so has he.

Between club and county he has won 7 Senior All-Ireland titles.

would love to see him back. And how is this for a suggestion from the left field. Play him at full back. A big lad well able to field the ball. Adds height to a good full back line thats vulnerable under a high ball. Then well able to spray long passes like no other player in the country. And can get forward to score points. No brainer. Give him the No 3 jersey now

DC - ROC - BB

ROC is back home now too.

BB scoring a goal last night coming in as a sub he's still plenty brilliant enough to offer so much to the team.

Classy, talented, experienced warriors.

It'll be huge.
Massive impact.
Mouth watering.
Adding in them boys to the mix and we're already well ahead of 2018.

Tell me that's not exciting stuff...

Fully expect Basquel to shine bright in 2019 to boot. Seriously talented.

Would registration even be an issue considering its outside Ireland/Europe? I'd say he is still officially a Vinnies member.

It all boils down to this Is Jim Gavin a man of his word , he has religiously stated and been unequivocal that the door is open to Dermo and any player that takes a break ,a lot of things would need to happen for Dermo to force his way into Jim's plans and of course is the ambition in Dermo to do it ? But like I said if people honestly believe the door has been firmly closed then you must believe Jim was telling porkies

Personally..

I've very little doubt that Gavin is speaking truthfully.

I personally believe this choice will be down to Diarmuid Connolly and his own desire and ambition. I hope he would enjoy it and he'd wish to give it all a go again.

I really missed seeing him bring Sam down to the Hill, I've all the Evening Herald posters from the 6 Sam victories and the beaming wide smile of DC is what really stands out on each poster.. the fella is clearly over the moon with helping to win titles for Dublin.

His presence is missed from my latest Fantastic Four poster in my office at home, it actually brought home to me that he wasn't there and for a fella with such talent that's a damn pity..

Declan Darcy added the following and it backs Gavin's own stance but Darcy goes that bit further (and for me these are some very positive and reaffirming comments that only show an open door)

"We have the highest regard for Diarmuid and we back him 110%. He's due back in two weeks, if he's playing to form, he's happy, he wants to be part of the group and we feel he can fit into the group, then absolutely.
There are no issues from our end towards Diarmuid. Again, it's an amateur sport. There are no having to do things, it's all about choices.
He decided this year that he needed to take a little bit of time away, and he should have been allowed that, and we allowed him to do that.
Jack McCaffrey left us, Rory O'Carroll left us, the same rules would apply to those players as Diarmuid.
If he comes back, we have an awful lot of loyalty towards him, we have fought hard battles with Diarmuid."

... I'd love to see them fighting more together!!

And please say it isn't so,
Why Dermo and Rory had to go,
The reason's very clear,
Their laying down their lives for us year after year.

Under any other manager I'd be weary of Dermo coming back , nothing to do with the lad but the circus he attracts , however as has been proven countless times Jim and his management team are faultless when it comes to keeping lads focused and driven they don't do bullshi7
