i think a few tweaks and ye have a great chance v tipp.a change of keeper, david mc to centre back.kelly staying at midfield and maybe duggan instead of shanaher, management made a huge mistake with o brien,he hasn,t played in two months and couldn,t have been fit after the injury he had.not sure if podge is suited to centre forward,he.s not going well.if mcgrath and o donnell get decent ball they will score goals.lets face it ye had more goal chances than cork and if one had gone in i think ye would have won.its a shame the match is going to cork with the gaelic grounds only in the road from both counties, good luck wih getting to cork for a 3 0 clock start on a saturday.

Should be apparent that O'Brien was not going to man-mark Cadogen, he should have being replaced much sooner when it was apparent. Cadogen gloats on space if given.
Horgan should have walked no doubt of that and it was intentional use of elbow on neck #dirty.
Hitting the ball way out for Clare and wides all too much.
Missed 3 goals at that level one cant miss goals.
Tony Kelly has not recovered confidence from All-Ireland-Club-final.
Cork young extremely fit, fitter than Clare and running and back up play impressive.
Clare need a reliable free-taker, best ever Colin Ryan now playing soccer.

I have repeatedly commented throughout the year that changes in the management are essential. As somebody has just commented the management of lower level teams is no preparation for the management of top class teams. It was painful on sunday to see some basic changes were required and nothing was being done.Even the manager in his post game comments seemed unaware of what was happening. Iwould suggest an immediate change to Anthony Daly. What is so infuriating is that we have so many quality players in the county, but in results nothing to show. Sad situation.!!!!!!

Hard luck Clare.I think ye have underachieved with the talent at your disposal.Ye won 3 U21 All-Ireland's in a row. What's happened some of the players from 2013 Finals.Conor Ryan was man of the match in the drawn game in 2013.Where was he yesterday. What's the story also with no Darach Honan in the team.Best of luck against Tipperary.

Tony Kelly nailed all his frees so your last comment is an odd one.

Kelly nailed all the frees, he missed the pen but still got a point out of it.

Our problems are pace in fb line which McCarthy may help fix, lack of a dominate CB although if we move david mac we in trouble af FB. Cleary did well on Sunday but i have my doubts. Conor Ryan is a big loss to us as he can play 6, 7 or 8 and adds power and a good engine.

Also i think we need to go direct more into shanagher and let the lads play off him. It sounds simple but its a a tactic that worked v limerick and at times v cork it unsettled Cahalane who otherwise was let hurl under no pressure. Spillane is a fine corner back but i feel McDonnell and Cahalane are there for the taking in Croker.

Darach Honan, Conor Ryan long term injuries. Colin Ryan playing soccer now, might be back next year but took a year out as got married and is building a house.

We played poorly on sunday and still we were only 2 points down with a full 15 minutes to go. I was disappointed that we failed to get any closer when the momentum was with us.
Another crucial factor was that horgan scored 5 frees from the 27th minute until half time. That is just not acceptable!!

A few defenders were quiet poor, firstly i think we all know that oisin o'brien is far more effective than what he showed but i think rustiness wasca big part of that. Pat o'connor had a poor performance as well but i think he was really feeling the effects of horgans terrible challenge. I think we need a change at 6. Fitzgerald who i think is an excellent player is not a natural defender and i think we might be best served with him playing further up the field.

The team i would like to see against tipp is;
1Kelly (fahy hasnt convinced)
2O'Brien
3McInerney
4Morey
5McCarthy (has to be in the team)
6Dillon (as someone said, 6 is where hw plays club hurling, strong, smart player)
7O'Connor (his best position)
8Galvin
9Kelly (With a stronger half backline behind him he should be able to go further forward
10Conlon
11Collins
12Fitzgerald (brings more than malone, p.duggan, deasy and golden)
13O'Donnell
14Shanagher
15McGrath
Shanagher and podge havent really performed but they have the talent, they just need the right kind of supply.
Apparently o'connell is no longer part of the panel.

Strange carry on down Banner way...........As a Cork man on the terrace last Sunday, I have to wonder if the "Sliotar" incident happened under the previous manager there would be a national outcry. It show's a distinct lack of confidence from the management if they feel they must carry on in this fashion? Did they honestly feel they would gain an upper hand with this behaviour. They may be better employed having a game plan of sorts to try and win the game rather than this carry on. I felt Sunday, that our current goalie got one over on his predecessor, perhaps he is a better pundit than a coach. Always thought he would be ideal if he came home to coach now I am left to wonder????? Just as many underage players will never make the step up to senior intercounty level, the same appears to be true of management. Wow they looked out of their depth on Sunday. I just hope for that individual's sake he is not a player or coach because it looks like theres a suspension coming his way.........I am assuming that the word on the street in Cork that he is connected to a member of the main management team is hardly true????? If so, I refer back to my previous point about confidence in their ability and being out of their depth, they could hardly condone this behaviour and certainly not instigate or encourage it. Rebels Abú!

Cork did something similar back in 2004 against Antrim. Storm in a teacup. Get off yer high horse.

Hexpert that is incorrect i am sorry, deasy has not got a chance with clare for you to state that! Plus he is a good solid free taker. His time will come with Clare yet.

Well in general play i do think fitzgerald offers more than wll them! He's excellent in the air, hes big and strong, has a good burst of speed, well able to score (despite his bad wide) and generally uses the ball quiet well.

None of the others ive mentioned can combibe those traits in my opinion.

Kellys frees were very good, not missing any. So i dont think there is any issue there going into the tipp game.

I can't see this management team making such huge changes in two weeks time. I hope they do but nah.. not these guys. Big calls need to be made but I reckon oob and cleary should be replaced with a team like;

1Fahy
2Poc
3McInerney
4. Morey
5Fitzgerald
6Dillon
7McCarthy
8Galvin
9 Malone
10Conlon
11Kelly
12Duggan
13O'Donnell
14Shanagher
15McGrath

I would like this team to start if the lads are brave though and let the team have a proper lash. Throw off the shackles and go for tipp who are without Barrett and struggling defensively.

Ideal team (will never happen)

1Fahy
2Poc
3Dillion
4Morey
5Fitzgerald
6Mcinerney (Clare will concede scores no matter what so at least he can hurl here)
7McCarthy
8Galvin
9 Kelly
10. reidy
11Conlon
12Deasy
13O'Donnell
14Cunningham
15McGrath

Imust ask again;; why was the Clare--Tipp contest not played in Limerick instead of Cork.Limerick would be aneutral venue close to both counties, and much more convenient than the long journey to Cork city.Does not what is best for the fans not matter any more??

Clare support wouldn't be great even if it was in Limerick. They bring the least amount of fans out of all the Munster counties. The game was always going to be on in Cork with the new Stadium. It's a once off. It's been signaled from a long way out. Not ideal I know for West Clare Folk. I always liked going to Cork on the train myself..always made a day out of it. I can't stand these guys that run in and run out to their cars...stay home if you've that little time.

i said earlier that limerick would be the ideal venue,it doesn,t matter how many supporters travel they are never thought about at the best of times.from what i,ve heard cork were given the games due to the fact they weren,t ready for the munster finals, don,t think any other county would have got a guarantee for hurling quarters.cork is a nightmare of a city to get through at the best of times but having a match down there at 3 0 clock on a saturday is absolute hell.getting back to the clare selection,i seriosly think they will make 2 or 3 changes and if they do there is a great possibility of ye making a semi final.i,ll be interested to see how ye,re senior players go in 21 tomorow night.

As I said before supporters are the life of the organization, and should come first. But obviously he gaa oficials don't give a damn about them. They are just happy to take our money no matter what the circumstances. Their overseeing the televising of games is just another example. Maybe there should be a fan's boycott!

Just after watching the game again. Just a few points on the first half, cork were 5 up at half time but it was actually pretty even. The key differences were;
1 Clare missed a lot of chances - kelly (2) conlon (3) as well as fitzgerald and galvin. All scorable chances.
2. Cork got 1 goal chance and took it, clare had 2 goal chances and missed both (although a point did come from both)
3 Cork supplied their full forward line with far better quality ball. 2/3 times clare passes went over the sideline, 2 balls went in high to conor mcgrath - when he clearly needs low ball
4 Horgan scored 4/5 frees - too much fouling from the clare defense
5 Alan cadogan was superb
6 Galvin played deep which allowed darragh fitzgibbon to dominate around midfield
7 Clare full backline was very exposed - too much space left in front of them

Second half;
1 Clare hit some shocking wides Kelly (3), galvin 1 & dropped 2 short. Malone as well with a bad one. Kelly with 5 wides overall.
2 Far too much fouling, cleary and mcinerney must have 4 fouls each against them over the course of the game
3 Again cork full forward line got much better service. The amount of space made it very hard to defend against.
4 Cadogan got 2 second half points that came at crucial times. Firstly straight after the goal and also towards the end when it there was 3 points in it.
5 Cork seemed to get scores far easier
6 Its hard to be too critical of clares full back or full forward lines. The full backline were exposed with a lot of space in front of them - while the quality of ball delivered in to them was excellent. Our full forward line got poor service, we hit maybe 5 wides in about 5-10 mins early in the second half - when the ball should maybe have been given inside. I could 6 balls hit to conor mcgrath - 3 high, which suited spillane who is better in the air. Then there were 3 that were hit over the sideline.
7 Our puckout strategy for corks puckouts was strange. Damien cahalane delivered excellent ball into the full forward line every time he recieved the short puckout, we should have changed when it wasnt working. The only benefit of it was that conor lehane wasnt involved as much as cork would have liked.
8 Playing galvin deep was a 50/50 one for me. He did get on a lot of ball, but particularly in the first half his direct opponent fitzgibbon was very good.

I dont think it would be fair to say cork wanted it more or that clare werent hungry enough. Without having played well we could have sneeked it as first when you consider the number of wides. But then when 2 points down we had a goal chance when duggan and cunningham worked the ball in along the end line. If cunningham could have finished that it could have been our day - but cahalane did brilliantly to gain possession and set up horgan for a crucial score.

Overall after watching the game back im not as pessimistic as i was leaving thurles on sunday evening.
We corrected our 3 highlighted problems after the limerick game.
Now we have different things to work on before the tipp game. We cannot give tipps full forward line the space that we gave corks or bubbles, callanan and mcgrath will destroy us - but just as important we cannot give tipp defenders that much time to give perfect ball into the inside line.
We need to cut down on the fouling, a lot of it was just pulling jerseys, couple of high tackles as well. These have to be cut out.
Our shooting was terrible, has to be improved massively!
Id to see galvin playing a little more advanced, although i acknowledge that playing with kelly, galvin will have to be more defense minded than usual.
Lastly we need to give our full forward line a lit more ball and a lot better quality favour our lads.
One other point, horgan should have been sent off. Which would obviously have had a huge impact. But that not an excuse for losing the game as it was stil there to be won.

David Mc I looks set to be out for the Tipp game. If he is, expect Clare's chances to go from slim to non-existant. Not even the fact that he's probably Clares best defensive player, it means our already shaky full back line will be even worse and throws up a huge amount of potential gaps as management adjusts to the changing of the guard.

Even worse it probably means 1 or two of the lads who aren't hurling well will have to start by default to keep the team settled which I hope and dont think should happen including OOB, Podge and Cleary.

I would like to see a few changes with this team:

1. Fahy
2. Morey
3. Dillion
4. POC
5. Jason Mc Carthy
6. D. Fitz
7. GOC
8. Galvin
9. Kelly
10. Duggan
11. Conlon
12. Deasy
13. Shane O'Donnell
14. A. Shanagher
15. C. McGrath

I would at a push want to bring back Bugler wing back but not sure his fitness..? Give Deasy a chance and Duggan for high ball. A half forward line of these three above would be very strong and could be aerially dominant.

Instead management will probably field the exact same team as last week with Dillion a straight replacement for Mc I. If so, I expect a bad day in Cork

A team like that woud give you a chance but of curse it wont happen we are obsessed with tactics sweepers and all that rubbish even Carmody our unnder 21 Manager was on the paper saying basically that only u21 hurling was played in its purest sence yet he went with a sweeper in last nights game. Of course it dident work either Games are ruined by coaches with big ideas

Its been a miserablw week in Clare Sport

Serion Footballers & Hurlers minors & u 21 hammered our senior hurlers on u21 team last night woud not be picked out only Goalie & Billy Connors did anything of note
