Replying To therealtmo:  "Fitz went two yards over the line ? Haha he was more like 20 yards inside the lining when he shoulder Forde. Fitz was banned for contributing to a melee not for arguing with the ref. Did the Cork manager get involved with a player because that's why Fitz was banned."
The realmalto, tipp, it is hard to have a decent discussion with guy who cant get his facts straight.Firs t you say Fitz was at midfield when he committed the mistake. In the next letter you have him over the line by twenty feet.Ijust wonder if your inconsistencies have something to do with the county you come from.!!!!!!!

Facts are Davy Fitz entered the field of play and got involved with a player and deserved the two month ban. You calling for the Cork manager to get a like wise ban is madness. He simply disputed a line ball. The County I'm from has nothing got to do with this, poor argument from you having to go down that line.

Davy lucky to get 2 months. Kingston shouting at a ref is bad, but every manager, including cody, fitz etc has done it. You are not comparing like with like BrianBoru to be fair

Just saying if there is A ruie there it should and must be applied to everyone.Theseverity of the punishment can be based on what actually happened.The fact is the cork manager did break the rule of interfering with the referee. Why was there no punishment ???

Folks. We need to get away from this rediculous debate and focus on the big day. Please get back to the hurling chat. It's usually great. Any info on injuries etc? I hear Podge will be ok. Any word on David Mc.

Was visiting in Tulla this week,visiting with some friends of Davy Mc. and they are less optimistic of his recovery. But there are still twoweeks to go.Much can happen!! We can be comforted that we have an excellent panel.Bugler would be a great replacement should one be needed in the backs. Our big weakness is in the goalkeeper position.All year long this has been obvious. MonthSago Icalled on the management to do something about it. I felt that quilligan from Feakle should be looked at.He played .for his parish and was excellent for Davy in the Fitgibbon Cup. Davy was impressed with him. But Clare management did nothing about a problem we all knew we had. It is a problem we could do without going into the Munster final. Iwould say of what is available the best choice iS Fahy. HERE IS HOPING FOR THE BEST!!!!!!

To be honest i wouldnt rate quilligan in the top 6 keepers in the county!
The 3 that are there are better than him!!
Derek fahy is better than him and i think jason loughnanne who will probably be our next long term keeper is better than him!
Quilligan is about on par with ronan taffe, kevin brennan and daniel vaughan in the next bracket of keepers. He's in the top 10 wouldnt think he'd be top 6 though!!

I know you wont agree boru because you are heavily biased towards feakle but if you look at it from a neutral perspective im sure you'll understand.

Just with regard to loughnanne actually he is currently behind fahy in the 'bridge pecking order so i hope their manangement see since and elevate loughnanne to no.1 senior keeper!!
Loughnanne has been starting for their 2nd team and their 3rd team in league games..
He has always been very impressive when ive seen him and is definitely the answer going forward. He'll be starting for the clare under 21's this year and with a bit of luck along the way he might establish himself as no.1 for the clare seniors in the next 2 years.

Hurling Expert, thank you for your informative piece.IT was good to hear the future of goalkeeping in Clare looks good for the future. But it is the present I am worried about right now,and the bad condition was visible for months.The management did nothing about it.Ihope they do well sunday week, but I sometimes wonder if Anthony Daly would have given us a better chance.And no, I am not prejudiced about Feakle , but I do love to see small communities move forward. Feakle have great managers in Val DONNELAN and GARRY GUILFOYLE. Their families are very involved. Val bought the senior team up from intermediate to be very involved in senior competitions,and GARY has won the under 14 and under 21 county championships in past years. B ESIDES they are the nicest guys you could meet. Another small parish you could admire is Broadford who came up from intermediate,and are doing very well.Of course another small community, Killanena joined feakle at the lower levels and have collected gold medals twice.It is great to see all these small communities who despite all the problems they face,including the problems caused by immigration survive and prosper and be successful!!!!!!!

In fairness to Fahey I think he is one of the best keepers in the game has a massive puck out and a top class long range free taker into the bargain,,, makes you wonder what yer problem is,,,, No doubt Clare have a problem at center foward,,,,

HOPPING BALL,were you at the Clare -Limertck game?All the sports correspondents claimed the weakest part of theClare game were the puck-outs. Too many of them went over the line and gave sideline balls back to LIMERICK.There were even indications in some quarters that Fahy would be replaced for the Munster final.Ihope he is not because I do believe he is the best of the present group we have.But he will have to learn to keep his puck -outs in the field of play.We need him,buti wouldnot call his last outing a '' massive performance''.

Yes,hopping ball, the forwards ,especially half forwards did not have their finest hour against Limerick !!!!!. hopefully IT will be better in the munster final,especially PODGE COLLINS.

Since the limerick game there has been an awful lot of talk on here and in clare in general about puckouts!
An interesting stat i have seen is that when cork played waterford, waterford won 74% of their own puckouts and cork only won 61% of theirs. Obviously cork still won so its not as critical a factor as some would suggest!

I saw this in an article on tipperarystar.ie its a very interesting article and gives a great in dept analysis of stats - well worth a read!

One swallow does not make a summer and nor does one game make a player.

Before Limerick, people were happy to see Fahy in goals as his puckouts and distribution were seen as an area of strength when compared to our other goalies.

People have a tendency to forget that ALL the pressure was on Clare against Limerick for the following reasons:

1. Favorites with the bookies;
2. New management who openly talked in the media about targeting the Limerick game all year;
3. Terrible Munster record;
4. All player interviews before the match being centered around our poor Munster record;
5. Beat Limerick last year and to win this year would be against the so-called "trend"; and
6. Young and inexperienced Limerick team who no one in the media gave a chance to;

Based on the above, I never expected to get a top class performance despite our challenge game performances before the match being very very good. In saying that, I could not see us loosing to Limerick. The pressure on the Clare players was huge...much much more so than Limerick.

Does anyone else not think that this could have impacted our players on the day in particular our goal keeper who is relatively new to the starting team? Of course it could. I expect Fahy to bounce back the next day as although it is Munster final day, there is much less pressure IMO. Cork will have all the pressure this time and isnt that a wonderful thing.

these things never bothered Kilkenny only excuses, the important thing is have we worked on the Ger Loughnane 3 point issue

Great to have minors in final shows value of hard work & good management compared to previous years, remember some of these playing in an u 16 challenge before 21 final in Ennis V Limerick. These youngsters were hammered but management culled some from previous developement panels went looking at what was available opened up their panel made 5 changes from match v Waterford.

On Wednesday evening last we saw value of lads wining arial battles especially 1/2 back line so dont tell me that this aspect of game is not important it is in fact vital again look at Kilkenny last 18 years

Wouldent it be some day to win the 2
