Clare Hurlers 2013

As a limerick man I have to shout for Galway ( semi final permutations) my honest feeling though is Galway are v poor with only a win against Laois to their name. I expect Clare to win. Think Clare are a year or 2 off semifinal standard but the draw has been kind. Good luck ( but only if cork win ha ha)

whatever about our chances against galway i really dont think cork are going to get near kilkenny, simply because kilkenny are nearly back to full strength bar maybe 1 player and i would expect they will have their main man starting....no not shefflin but michael fennelly. power, hogan and colin fennelly are starting to hit form up front, as are the likes of tyrrell, walsh and joyce at the back. cork are a poor team lets be honest. we should have been out of sight against them at half time but we carelessly let them back into it and fell apart as they destructed us, but the game shoud have been over as a contest before they got the chance. i also think that limerick are overrated, they beat tipp whos minds were clearly elsewhere and thought they had the game won before the game even started, and they beat this "poor" cork team when cork they played half the game with a man less

To be fair we got what we deserved against cork and another minute of normal and Wexford would have beaten us. You don't take our chances you won't win games..

obviously reading it again didnt help so. here is the key part of what i said "we should have been out of sight against them at half time but we carelessly let them back into it and fell apart as they destructed us"
The problem with clare is simply our conversion ration from shots taken, scoring around 55-60% is not good enough but if this can be improved which im sure it can then clare would be in the top 3 or 4 teams in the country, we have all the ingredients we just need them to all come together and we can beat anyone. and dont talk start saying that clare lack experience or know how, because only one player left in the championship outside of kilkenny has an all ireland medal, so no one else knows any better than clare. so in conclusion clare have the potential to become the best team in the country

Clare hurling is littered over the years with "should haves". Limerick is similar but at least we are beginning to get teams fighting like dogs to win matches. Bad Limerick teams have beaten good Tipperary ones over the years. Limerick just cut into Tipp like Clare did for a great period of dominance over them in the Nineties.. Clare and Waterford are similar in many ways...Check the record books in munster..The two of ye are miles behind Limericks record...but put yourselves a step above possibly because ye dont have other successfull sports like Limerick has Rugby..Saying all that I genuinely hope Clare win on Sunday for the Great Clare supporters that follow them through thick and thin.By that I mean the Clare folk who were at the munster final in 95 when they were back after two devastating years and were outnumbered 3 to 1 by Limerick on the day..

bloody ban im sorry i dont understand what you mean by this "but put yourselves a step above possibly because ye dont have other successfull sports like Limerick has Rugby" are you saying clare are a step above waterford?? if so what has limerick and rugby got to do with it. explain please

Apologies there I didnt make my point clearly. My basic point are that Clare and Limerick are 4 and 5 after Cork,Tipp and Limerick as measured by success and finals played. Yet when Clare or Waterford have a decent team they invariably underestimate Limerick which is fine by us.. I personally think its because Limerick has another extremely successfull code in Rugby Union and the Banner and the Deise think that hurling doesnt mean as much to Shannonsiders..

well i can only speak for myself but anytime i have tried to "estimate" how good a team is i judge them on their current players and form and recent results. i would never go back through the records to see how many munsters or all irelands a team has won because that is totally irrelevant to the current team. limerick have a larger population than clare which enables ye to be more successful at another sport outside gaa

You say Tipps minds were somewhere else which I suppose means they felt they had to only turn up to beat us. Why would they have thought that. Last year we played them in their own back yard and led them for about 65 mins and might have won if we had made switches sooner. We also played far better against KK than they did.

Your a prime example of vintage Limerick arrogance. Off you trot back to the Limerick page.

if you ask any tipp supporter, this year for them was about vindication for last years disaster against kilkenny. it was just about beating kilkenny or winning an all ireland. obviously they went into the limerick match with totally the wrong attitude thinking "limerick are a division 2 team", " we'll just beat them and get the game over with". they DID think wrongly in thinking that that they just had to show up play the game and get out of there with the win in the bag and move on to bigger things. for limerick they knew the challenge that they faced and were willing to do anything to overcome tipp and thats why they won because they were more focused on the task at hand and more ready for battle. bottom line is tipp made the fatal error of looking too far ahead instead of taking it one game at a time.
