Replying To DooReg:  "Jeysus you'se Cavan men are a bundle of whingers. No mention of the 3 or 4 very handy frees the ref gave you. Gaelic Football is a physical game - if you don't like the physicality, go take up darts or something. I thought it was a great tight game - typical Ulster Championship. What do you expect? A ladies football ref? There was niggles all over the field, so take the Blue Glasses off. What about your men taken out Jarlath Burns for each throw-in? We don't whinge - we just get on with it.

The black cards on Cavan were deffo harsh. Yellows for me both of them.
Red card for Cavan, again, another ref if he seen it from a different angle might give yellow. Shields made the most of it no doubt. It was an arm thrown back to get away as opposed to wanting to do damage. For me, there is a difference. If he meant to do it - it's red - i am in the yellow card camp here also.

Grimley pull on the ball, yellow for me as he was going for the Ball but was never getting it. Fair play to the Cavan midfielder for not rolling around like a Tyrone man.

Donaghy red surely - clown!

Jeysus - reading back on that, who would want to see me ref'ing a game - there'd be dead bodies everywhere! lol

It will be an interesting game on Sunday - whoever learns the most and adapts will win the game.

Best of luck lads on Sunday - not much between the sides. To be honest, Armagh didn't play to their full abilities (i'm sure Cavan are the same). I fancy a 2 point win for the Orchard!"
We'll see

Replying To Pullhard1985:  "The absolute neck of Armagh entertaining the notion of appealing Donaghys red card is absurd.
As blatant a red card as you will ever see, could have done serious damage.

re-watched the game last night, on the whole backs were very good. Keeping Clarke, O Neill, Grugan and Campbell to 2 points from play is not to shabby. McLoughlin, Clarke and Moynagh impressed from this point of view

Jarlath og Burns caused untold damage throughout, could quite easily have had another 2 or 3 scores from play as well as dominating the air, we need to spoil him the next day. Bring in a specialist.

McVeety was actually superb, considering the dogs abuse he was getting he never backed down and his 2 points were superb.

Special mention for Mackey, those scores were spectacular. Brilliant, clever player who seems to love the responsibility

Still think there is room for either Seanie or Caoimhin on the bench, that extra time period was crying out for a finisher to put the game to bed. Those 2 are probably the best 2 finishers in county. Has anybody heard any updates on Caoimhin, surely worth a place in the 26 at least?"
Would have to agree, McVeety got dogs abuse.
Hopefully the next referee will have watched the game and deal with Armagh's of the ball fouls.

Wouldn't hold my breath. Unfortunately it's part and parcel of the game. It's a risky strategy by Armagh but calculated risk and could pay dividends for them. Our Armagh friend is right. You can't be relying on referee to win a game. I like what I see from Graham so far. No bitching about referees and players tend to be getting on with play more now than in the past. If you let a ref into your head you will always end up loser. Hopefully Graham comes up with the better plan next day out. If we get the match ups right and take our chances we can win on our own terms.

How are we looking on the injury/ suspension front? Is C. Brady suspended for the next day? Will Jarlath Og be available for Armagh?"
Have a feeling McGeeney will get Burns onto the field regardless of medical advice.

Be interesting to see if his club step in to protect him. He was badly concussed and it was highly irresponsible of Armagh to deny it immediately after the game.

Replying To DooReg:  "Easy enough understood. If the ref seen the incident as Grimley going for the ball wholeheartedly with no intent to hurt the player, he treated it as a yellow. If the incident was viewed, alternatively, as malice and intent to hurt the player then it's a red card. The ref chose to view the incident as the former and i would in that camp.

Although, according to your limited research findings (which has little to no statistical validity) i am in the 1% of the population. Really depends on the extent of the population base (and whether the sample were randomly selected or have inherit bias built in). Hope you understand that bit there!"
That's a false interpretation of the rules. Nice try though. You're not allowed lunge at the ball with your feet as a man is going down on it, which is exactly what Grimley did. The reason you're not allowed do that, is because it constitutes dangerous and reckless behaviour. Similarly in soccer you're not allowed tackle with studs showing. Similarly in rugby you're not allowed hit a man in the air. Some movements, regardless of intent, are off limits, and Grimleys move is one of them.

But the frustrating thing is; if we were to play on (or anywhere near) the edge, we'd be whistled off the field. See the Kerry game earlier in the year. See Faulkner's black card Sunday.

We're not asking a referee to give us handy frees or ignore fouls by our players - we're asking for fairness and consistency. That's it. And if we get it, we'll beat Armagh.

Replying To celt2018:  "Agree with Pullhard regarding Burns, would we have a real good spoiler who is clever enough to keep the head and do that job, no doubt the Gunner would revel in that role, but would he keep the head? Also think Caoimhin must be an option for Sunday, surely for at least a half, maybe him one half and the ginger ninja the other. Also half back to come in in place of Gerry Smith/Ciaran Brady, will someone come in or will a forward be moved back to defence,if so then mackey/caoimhin/pierson/j brady will likely come in to forward line unless we change method and put madden and Niall McKiernan on square and let ball in."
Not a suitable game for gunner. This is a type of evenly poised game where one moment of madness costs you everything, like a misplaced pass in a key area, or a red card. We got away with it last week because the lads dug deep.
I'm also anxious about Galligan coming too far off his line, there's a mistake waiting to happen if he takes too much out of the ball, because although he's good between the posts, he ain't blessed with pace.

No, this is a game where cool heads must prevail. I'd put Oisín K into the hb line and start Enda Flanagan up front.

Thought the referee shafted us a bit in Salthill this year too but in saying that we have had a tendency to be very in your face with referees in the past both from the line and on the field. Referees are human and probably talk among themselves and form preconceived ideas of teams that may effect their performance. Just a theory and hope it's just a bit of back tax we're paying. Think Graham seems to be improving our discipline all the time and maybe we'll soon start reaping a little from that.

And now you want to get rid of Burns because of a medical issue? How the hell would anyone on here know if the lad was concussed or just a gash over his eye. Are you a medical practitioner than can diagnose concussion without an examination. Jesus you lot are seriously clutching at straws here.

If he was concussed he won't be playing. McGeeney would protect his players more than you actually know.

Please quote from the rules in the official guide where it states you aren't allowed to lunge at the ball and if you do it's a red card? Good luck with that lad. The rules are there for everyone to see. They are written in a way that it's open to interpretation by the official. I'll hekp you. It's Part 2 of the official guide. Pages 88 onwards.

The last game is over and it should be forgotten about at this stage. We can't do anything about it. Truth be told we didn't play well enough to win the game. Looking back at decisions that went against us is a waste of time. Faulkner will be back and hopefully to stay. Brady and smith will be two massive losses so this to me leaves Armagh favorites. This could be a completely different game. I'm hoping last weeks game might have prepared Cavan better for the Armagh challenge than it has Armagh for the Cavan challenge.
Not much analysis in my post. I'm done with that and hoping for a win (which regardless of how it's done will be massive)

For the incident where GMAC was kicked take your choice
5.16 To kick or attempt to kick an opponent, with
minimal force.
5.17 To behave in any way which is dangerous to an
opponent.
PENALTY FOR THE ABOVE FOULS -
(i) Order offender off.
(ii) Free kick from where foul occurred,
except as provided under Exceptions of
Rule 2.2.

What service are you using? The likes of Sky or Virgin or any of those type of boxes will have the regional variant somewhere. I got a NI sky box so BBC NI is my main one, but I can get Scottish or Welsh BBC on channel 880 or something. You can find BBC NI somewhere there if you look depending on the region you're in.

Agreed with the above poster, the last game is history. I don't think either team did enough to deserve it.

Now we go back to Clones. I have to say, I am loving travelling over there on a weekly basis these days, its a reminder of better times. Again I don't see much between the teams and it will be interesting to see how we go. Brady and Smith are indeed a loss but this is part and parcel of inter-county football and every team has their problems with injuries and suspensions.

I hope that we get a similar spectacle on Sunday. I would expect that there may be more of an impact from players like Jamie Clarke and Martin Reilly this week. It will be won and lost in the attacking third and whoever converts the chances they make. I would hope for more from the inside forward line of Cavan but to get more, we need to play the ball in. I thought Galligan and Martin Reilly were spectators for large parts due to the lack of supply.

May the best team win and I hope that the referee isn't the talking point again this week. Time to face off and may the best team win.

While disappointed that we did not win last Sunday i think we will be in the Ulster Final on Sunday evening as we have room for greater improvement and will have learnt more from last Sunday's game.

Hard to know how Sunday will go. My opinion is it will be a completely different ball game. Cavan need to utilize the big men in FF line. Keep discipline.
Plenty of our boys didn't show up last Sunday. Looking forward to seeing more of Martin and Madden's movements. Both had quiet days. Need more from middle of the field, however everyone has off days and i think a lot of wrongs will be made right in Clones on Sunday.

These boys give their heart, time and dedication to Cavan football, it was disheartening to hear some horrific comments coming from the mouths of so called 'Cavan Supporter's' last week. We have come a long way this year, and I think we are improving, certainly much more enjoyable football to watch.

We need to get behind our team.

Predication's for starting 15? I am going with the same, with Murray in for Smith (such a loss and talented quick young footballer, please God injury isn't too serious) However we are so lucky to have talent like Murray on the bench after his impact performance last week.

Hopefully we get a good 20 minutes out of Macky the Hero!
Exciting buildup ahead.

Absolutely agree about Madden and Martin Reilly, they are two of our most important players and they were kept largely under wraps by Armagh. Similarly we smothered their attacking threats. So we nullified each other up front, hence the stalemate.

I think we'll see Reilly moved out the field a bit this time, and we need to hit the FF line more with earlier ball. Armagh are vulnerable under a high ball.
It'll be interesting to see what use is made of Mackey. Would posters here start him? Personally I feel he's better to end the game than start it. I expect another tight battle and having a player like him to call on with 20 minutes left is crucial. Murray should come in for Smith.

Some people reckon Jamie Clarke and ó Néill will step up this time, but in all honesty our backs have the measure of them, no doubt about it. Remember, our lads have cut their cloth at a higher level, it counts for a lot.
