(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Well folks.

Has anybody any idea what sort of U21 team we will have this year?

What sort of management team is in place?

What players Will make up the team?

Will it be good enough to compete with other counties?

I believe Rainbow is looking after Under 21 as well as senior. Have to be a lot of new faces on panel this year Iwould think. A lot of Eire Og dual minor and under 21 winning side plus the likes of Andy Beaton , Graham power. Simon Doyle etc.

Players that have to start. Mark Fitzgerald, Chris Blake, Niall Quinlan, Shane Mcgrath, Andrew Beaton, Darragh Obrien, Lee Walker, John Dwyer, Kelvin Chatten, Craig Kearney in goal (is he under age) plus a couple of Myshall lads and young Murphy from Fenagh. Jamie Kenny from Pal(if recovered from injury) Niall Swan and Conor Murphy also. I might have missed a few lads but I would have all them lads involved.

I would prefer someone other than rainbow to take charge. He knows very little about any young lads in the county

Can be a strong team. Large number of Eire og minors (main bulk of u21 winning side also) plus O'Brien, Fitzgerald, etc; Blues players showed great potential on their senior team just hopefully they stick at it; Myshall players after winning 2 of the last 3 u21's so it has all the ingrediants for a strong team. I'm sure there are other players who I might have missed from the likes of Tinryland (Dwyer comes to mind) & other clubs (Kenny from Pal, etc.)!

Can anybody list a few additional players that could be part of the set-up? Wouldnt know that many from other clubs!

think its a bit of a joke that theirs no manager appointed to the team yet usually the team is already back training a good while by this stage looking back on the last few years boys will only get lazy now and not go in ad the clubs will start to get back together as well after christmas playing dublin first round in parnell with little to no preperation done for the game............not fair on the players

Its terrible to say no man has the balls to challenge Dublin when there is plenty of young lads that Will put on the Carlow jersey and give it everything they have. Its a disgrace!

we all remember 2010 when carlow last played dublin in the u21, dublin were expected to have an easy game and look what happened came within a point of beating the eventual all ireland champions theres no reason why lads this year cant go a step further if the training is put in but at the moment theres nothing being done, iv heard that the u21 teams of the surrounding counties ave been back training now the last few weeks

Every other county u-21 team has been together training for at least a month. We have Dublin in Parnell Park in the first round. There is no back door. If we dont want to be humilated I suggest we sort out a manager and panel pronto. We should have a decent enough panel. Enough to be competitive hopefully. It would be a terrible start to the year for the county if we get beaten out the gate in Parnell Park. H

Its a disgrace that it hasn't started yet. Not worth they're while putting out a team at this rate.

Well i see that we have a new U21 Manager - Mick Hyland from Monasterevin, Co. Kildare. I have to say I dont think i have ever heard of him - anyone know anything about him? On a positive its good to have a manager that isnt part of the senior setup. Hopefully he will be able to get all the players to line out - there will be a curiousity about him if nothing else!

On a side note - are we been taken over by Kildare or whats going on? We have Anthony Rainbow,Wayne Middleton, Mick Hyland, i also heard that our physio has been replaced by a Kildare physio (anyone know if this is true?) and wasnt Michael Demspey replaced as games promoter in county by a Kildare man last year as well - mind you I havent heard anything about him since so maybe that job didnt materialise! Do they all know each other or whats going on?

# dual supporter & barrowsider the bit of info I picked up for you in relation to your post is, Mick Hyland was manager of Monasterevin, and Ballymore Eustace (with reasonable success) and this year he managed Rathangan. He was also a selector with the Kildare u-21 team when Peter McConnon was the manager, Peter is another Kildare man involved with Carlow football. Mick was also a selector with the Kildare u-21 team when Padraig Nolan was the manager. I can't guarantee the accuracy of that bit of info, but I think it's fairly reliable.

First training session is Tues night. Alan Curran is one of the selectors I hear.
