Football Qualifiers 2014

(Oldest Posts First)

Away to Carlow weekend of July 12/13.

Very good draw for Clare. Would have preferred a home game, but considering we could only have got 1 of Tyrone/Down/Cavan/Carlow then this was next best option. Will be a tricky enough fixture down there, but we are after coming off a very good league campaign and have 3 championship games behind us.

Carlow will also see this as an excellent draw and their win over Waterford will have given them a huge lift.
Both teams will be expecting to win so a real good game should be in store.

Lads will need to be in their toes for this one. Won't be easy, but it is still a good draw. Carlow will feel the same. But our best team available and we can win this one. Wouldn't it be nice to play a few Championship matches.

Excellent performance from Clare, ruthless which is good to see. Hopefully a home draw next day and see where we go

Getting home draw a big plus.
Kildare have an excellent record in qualifiers and are used to going on the road so they won't have any real fear coming to Ennis.
A big step up, but Clare are going well and confidence will be up for this game.

Well lads what's the consensus down there? Podge central...

Podge is a good player, but it would be wrong to say that we are very dependent on him.
He is an excellent link man between defence and attack and is able to take his scores when he gets the chance. Hi is quite small so very difficult to tackle when he has the ball and tends to get fouled a bit. Has great vision and very aware of spare men & space.
In saying all that, his man scored a goal off him against Kerry, so Kildare may well decide to man mark him rather than letting him roam.

Congrats to the Banner footballers for the great year, fair play and hard luck on Saturday last. I was there and felt the best team lost. Roll on 2015, ho'n the Banner
