Well done to Clare on your promotion. As a Wicklow man I'm disappointed it wasn't us but delighted for you. A long time coming and well deserved. Best of luck.

Well FAIR PLAY to the CLARE footballers who won promotion to the third division yesterday>.After ending the first half with a slim lead playing with a huge breeze and seeminly beaten they turned around in the second half and took that game by the scruff of the neck. Th outscored Antrim and went on to win by four points!!!!. They showed a determination seen so often shown by their senior hurlers. It would nor surprise me if they went to second division football next year. With their ability and enthusiasm and a great coaching staff,no siree it would not surprise me at all!!! -brian boru

How many of the starting 15 have previously played in Croke Park with either club or county? I make it four, who can name them.

I'd say just the Quilty boys Hickey,McMahon & Coughlan from starting team have played in Croker.Rory Donnelly,Alan Clohessy,Michael O'Shea on subs would of played in Tommy Murphy final in 04

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think Martin O Leary also played for the Clare minor hurlers having come on as a substitute.

Clare played well on sat, got some lovely scores, unlucky to lose but 12 wides killed them. with podge n sean collins to come back in, i think they can be competitive in munster n maybe go a few rounds in the qualifiers. very well prepared team, compared to the shambles that was 2013.

Well done to the Clare footballers for a magnificent game against TIPP. If the Collin brothers were available I'M SURE THEY WOULD HAVE WON.Next years division three should be interesting. At this early stage I can see Armagh and CLARE being favoured to continue on to Division two.And let's not forget to give credit to their fine and dedicted management team who seem to be on the ball twenty four 7.

tony kelly and conor mcgrath are fine footballers as well, but had deided to concentrate on hurling. clare have always had good footballers IMO, is just that hurling takes precedence for dual players. After the munster club final last year, plenty of kerry folk were raving about conor mcrath and cathal mac as fine players.i think the clare set up lacked belief last few years and now they have it.

John Conlon was a decent underage player also. He won an u15A Munster schools with Flannans. Anyone know where Darren Hickey from Quilty is thought he would surely be starting at this stage with his talent a few years ago and he would be around 25 at this stage I say

its all hurling in this county...but football is just as important to clubs in clare especially back the west...fair enough we are on the map because of the hurlers with the all ireland last year..but clare football is up and coming...footballers almost went further then our hurlers this year...hopefully next year will be like 92 for the footballers they truly deserve it and its about time the county come out and spupport them. you could see it at the kildare game i seen people there who would never go to a football game and there answer was a shur the hurlers are out what else will we follow!!!
