Very hard question. Hurling has changed greatly since 1995.
For me the 1997 team was better than 1995 because of the inclusion of Colin Lynch. What a player added to a fantastic team.
1995 was amazing and will never be forgotten. Those players are legends.
For me though this current 2013 squad have the potential to be our greatest ever side. We have only won ONE all Ireland though so feet needs to be kept steady and firmly on the ground. We have unbelievable players yes....but they must NOT take their eye of the ball. Cork will be back, Limerick not gone, Waterford are no mugs. Kilkenny are still amazing, Dublin are a top top team and very unlucky not to make the All Ireland. Of course Tipperary are there too and Galway you never know.
It's amazing to be champions and we have such wonderful potential to be there or there abouts for a long time. But if we lose focus (which I believe we won't) it won't happen.
Without being arrogant we should be looking to win more than one All Ireland with this team.
These sort of questions are always very hard to answer. I've no doubt that the 2013 team are far more skilful, and offer a much more dangerous scoring threat. The one thing that this years team didn't have to battle against was a very physical team (i.e. Kilkenny or Tipp). In fact probably the most physical side they played was against Cork in Munster semi-final, which was also a day with a very strong swirling wind.
The 97/98 team was far better than 95 team, as most of the players had improved plus addition of Colin Lynch & Niall Gilligan was a massive plus. The current crop still have a bit to go to match them, but they have massive potential to get even better.
as a neutral supporter i would say that both teams were marvellous. 95 u had davy , the lohans seanie mac , baker, jaimsie sparrow and daly . this team has kelly, mcinerney donnellan ,ryan tony kelly and podge . all equally as good and a joy to watch . clare have brought hurling to new levels and i wish them continued success
