Podge Collins

Every single team in the country would be weakened by the absence of Podge. It just doesn't stand up to say up and coming players are equal replacements for one of the best forwards n the country. every hurling fan in the country outside of Clare is v happy to see Podge playing football.

we need him back and i think on the 40, roving around causing trouble and creating space for kelly n mcgrath. cathal mc deserves a crack, but was he with footballers too?

heard from a lad on the panel that the reason davy isnt forcing the issus is cos 2 of the Cratloe lads, Podge being one of them, if push comes to shove have more of a gra for football and Davy has too much to lose here

Theres truth in that. Podge would choose the Bogball over hurling..Not sure if Ryan is the same...Davy has to thread carefully indeed

Big double header for both tipp and Clare hurlers and footballers this weekend, both games should be crackers with the way leagues are setting up. Any idea which podge will be playing in?

Podge is a footballer at heart who is a very good hurler also
but Davy knows that if he forces it, he will lose him, as Podge will choose football
But why would Davy bother cos not being smart but ny July when the hurling gets serious, Clare will be out of the football so its not the issue it is in other counties such as Dublin or Cork

if it was championship and clare had a football and hurling game on the same day or weekend, then i am certain that podge would play hurling. challenging at the top level versus getting a hammering from cork or kerry in the football. dont get me wrong no disreapect to clare football, we are improving but we are miles and years off getting near cork and kerry

Podge only on the bench for the hurlers along with the likes of Tony Kelly and Shane O Donnell.

I laugh at the stuff written some times!

Short listed for Under 21 and Senior Hurler of the year last year - shown massive appetite for the game of hurling and putting in dazzling performances. Clare are currently All-Ireland Champions and coming off the back of 2 under 21 All-Irelands

.. and wait for it - Davy must tread carefully or else the great competitor that is Podge will head off the greatness that is division 4 football and the annual hammering in the Provincial Championship

He's shown great loyalty to his Father this year and hats off to him. I'm impressed with how Davy and Colm are managing him so far. I think he would love to part of a Clare team to get promoted from Division 4 but thats where the show will end. Davy will keep him ticking over for the next couple of months and make sure he's fresh for the Championship

Christ he played a blinder, frightening stuff! If I was a Clare man I'd be rubbing my hands with excitement looking at him play. Just hope he has a stinker next week! Or even better if the Clare team that turned up v Dublin turn up v Waterford :)

Are ye Clare boys giving the Deise any chance? With Kilkenny to come in Nolan Park I wouldn't say no to a point in Ennis.

waterford won in ennis last year and clare-waterford games traditionally are tight affairs, of course ye have a good chance. Clare have put themselves into a good position now tho to push on for a semi spot so would be disappointing if they didnt manage it.

i think waterford will have a big year, they havent collapsed like many people thought n have some lovely young hurlers coming thru alongside experience like brick walsh, kevin moran (one of the top 5 hurlers in ireland if you ask me), people might think im crazy but i have a hunch they will shock cork in the first round.

I wouldn't call you crazy for fancying Waterford v Cork. Waterford have a lot of injuries and hopefully we will have a few back for championship. I would have thought we'd be slight favorites going into this one? Good match to get if were gonna give ya a proper shot.

The youthfulness of Waterford is starting to bloom alright, Mahony is proving his worth in the league to date, agreed with Kevin Moran being one of the top players in the country. Hard to call this one for me, but as previously said I'd settle for a draw now. Up the Deise

and you know this because............
podge is a hurler whose father is in charge of the clare football team.
he is missing hurling currently due to a finger injury that is slow in healing. the end
