Can Clare challenge for top honours

(Oldest Posts First)

WELL CAN THEY I THINK THEY HAVE A GREAT MANAGER IN MCNAMARA BUT COULD LACK A REAL CENTRE BACK AND COLIN LYNCH IS TOO OLD THE BEST THEY CAN HOPE FOR IS A TRASHING BY TIPP IN THE MUNSTER SEMI AND AN APPERANCE IN THE ALL IRELAND QUATER FINAL

do nt know why you think tipp are so good . a poor waterford team beat you last year . eoin kelly waiked 10 steps against cork to score goal that changed game. if clare had one decent foward they would of won munster final. killkenny hammered yee. you are as far behind killkenny as everybody else. three all irelands since 71. by the way robbed clare in 21 final and lucky you did nt meet killkenny last year in final the same would of happened yee.

I dont think Clare are as bad as the league results show were unlucky in at least 3 matches could/should have won.

We are a very unsettled team at the moment think that our half back line are coming good full back line a bit unsettled not sure about Cathal Dillon at full back yet but he has had a reasonable league.

Forwards are the real problem but what are the alternatives, whatever happened to Bernard Gaffney he was a decent prospect no forward from any club trips off the tongue.

Its better thought to persevere with Caiman Morey/ John Conlon even Colin Ryan as we need a bit of youth.

I like Conor Cooney as well but he is a back man

simple answer no.. same story no forwards of any note ... very unsettled look to the team. no one standing up to main the central defensive problems although bugler may be a real option at 6.. bottom line is that we are well down the pecking order in terms of serious aspirations for challenging for all ireland honours

Forward Line is the area of concern. Conlon put in the inside forward line against Dublin but obvious he way out of position, seemed hungry to get invovled in the play and drifted very far in the field.

Should we not try clancy in the corner small skillful nippy and industrious and try and play bigger men in the centre to break ball etc. Bugler seems handy at no. 6, Surely Nugent up to the grade, Gilligan seemed the sharpest the day against the dubs on either side. Morey also looks good in bursts.

As always we need a consistent goal threat I do believe some very good younger players coming through - we need to stop panicking, we are going in the right direction.

Besides KK none of the other counties look impressive and all have flaws, KK unless they have peaked too soon will destroy all before them. I would much prefer to be team building at this stage than watch a golden generation annihilated.

Not a chance. Could be another 10 years before Clare make it back onto the Big stage.
