He will do a lot more than the hurlers on the ditch, among whose numbers i'd say you belong eee, judging by your question. He has already shown that he is a worker in his role as Treasurer and he deserves the good wishes of all gaels in his role as chairman. With cooperation all round, I've no doubt he will do an excellent job. If the cynics start the negative stuff from the start, he certainly will find the going tough.

im glad michael meaney got the chairmans job, i think it was a good sign that he got such a vote, to me the choice was clear go back to the bad old days or continue the good work pat deering started

Yeah good appointment. He's a shrewd operator and a good business brain too. Pat Deering was a good chairman in fairness.

How will Michael do? I believe that he will improve the good work done by the previous chairmen. In fairness if you look at the work done across the county by the chairmen a lot of work has been done.

Michael is a good honest worker who has put the time into improving the money situation and he is an approachable man and he is his own man and while it will take him a while to grow into the role he will I believe bring on a lot of initiatives a long way.

Carlowman i agree Michael has a reputation of being a good worker but can i just say he must bring alot more to the table than just helping the money situation. carlow is in agreat position in both codes to kick on. The real hard work of stablising a division 2 status and 2 christy ring title by the hurlers and as for the footballers we can only improve the u21s last season showed da seniors how to do it last season. so i think we are on the way up and i think improvment of senior teams and development at under16 level to u21s should be the main focus for the county board and michael meaney. Its vital we continue to improve our all round recognisation as a hurling county of late and the thing about the football is promotion in the next two years is very important. I dont believe the standard of division 3 and 4 is much different. If we got there i think we could stay there. So how michael meaney is going to help the improvement of our current senior teams and continue to develop the supply of better talent as we improve should be his number one GOAL !!

Have we progressed or regressed over the past two and a half years

That's a good question. Great GAA man, very honest and fair. Genuine as they come. It's a difficult position because we are so lowly and there are so many weaknesses. Not a man for attention seeking, works quietly and respects everyone. Like all County Chairman finds himself at loggerheads with all clubs at some stage but when the issue is over its over.

I would have to say regressed.

Hopefully a few more Old Loughlin men to commit to the cause. Best of luck to him I say, but start close to home.

Easy have a cut at Old Leighlin or any club that has no co player. There can be many reasons. John Hayden James Clarke Mark Brennan Pat Hickey have all given plenty to Carlow and Mark is hurling too. None of the above are spring chickens! How many have been asked in? Hughie Gahan is one but difficult to get him to commit and had bad experience with Luke. Dave Bambrick seems to be glossed over and would be worth a shout but I dont think was asked in. Wasnt he in last year or the year before and got no look in?
Go through all Clubs and there are players you would like to see in. Be easy get them in if we had success - chicken and egg!

Didnt intend on having a go at anyone OldMcDonald. It's not confined to any one club, but representation was very poor from county champions for whatever reason in recent years. Best of luck to him as I say

Michael Meaney is a decent skin who is trying to keep the Carlow ship afloat in very stormy waters. A bit more help from the clubs particularly the football ones
would not go astray. best wishes to both Carlow teams this coming weekend Hurlers should do it Footballers have a mountain to climb
