Any interest in sharing GAA-related documentaries ye would recommend? There is some good stuff out there. Not sure of the name of it (you may have mentined it above) but the Crossmaglen one was pretty good. Was on BBC and RTE a few weeks ago and is on Youtube. Laochra Gael is always fairly good - best one I think I saw was the Meehans one (Michael, Declan and the rest of the brothers). There was one about 10 years ago about the Clare hurlers under Loughnane in the 90s and it was brilliant. A year till Sunday covering Galway football in 1998 is probably one of the best out there.. It covers every aspect of their league and championship and a total behind the scenes view of that set up.. Poor quality would still be better than nothing. I tried uploading Dublin v Mayo 2006 to You Tube a few years ago but it was gonna take forever. When they show a full of a game is that because someone uploaded a compressed version or how does it work ? If a few of us got together we could add GAA stuff not on YouTube or elsewhere to YouTube, a torrent site, dropbox or elsewhere. I contacted RTE to see if they might add archived games to the player but the girl I e-mailed didn't seem to have a clue what I was talking about. Now you would think that's a trick the GAA has missed. Setting up their own Youtube channel or equivalent on their own website where they upload full videos of classic matches. Either they have faster internet speed than you and me or they start an upload and just leave their laptop to upload overnight ( or longer for a full match) but I would upload 1st and 2nd half separately to make it more manageable. "A year till Sunday " its a cult documentary to an entire generation here out west. And yes, its all up on youtube, Im thinking of converting the VHS to DVD or Harddrive this Christmas - I could quote it by heart. Its shows behind the scenes - management dealing with unhappy players, the heartache of subs not making the panel for the All-Ireland final, the preparation for a final. Some of my favourite parts: - Mike Mac admitting his kickouts cost Galway the year before and how it hurt him - Ja Fa going through attacking tactics with Mikey Donnellan and Divley - Ja Fa with Sean Purcel after they just won Sam for the first time nearly 40 years - Bringing the Sam siar go Chonamara agus sé'ard a rinne é sin go peil I gConamara! O Mahony reading the papaers to the players after the first Roscommon drawn game, "Galway a nice team. Fancy Dans. Midfield partnership not capable of winning enough team possession. Ringy on TG4 was brilliant. Bring a tear to the eye. I would love to see that Clare one about Crusheen. Having read "Hurling the revolutionary years" I always thought I must visit that Pitch in Crusheen. That book was one of the best I have read across any spectrum.
