Firstly had a super weekend in Cavan this weekend at Feile na nog / having attended same event last year in CastleIisland & Tralee - an event which epithamises everything that is great about the GAA and bonding and hospitality of country wide communities.

That aside curious to hear if anyone saw the bizarre conclusion to the the Boys Division one shield final in Breffni park
Gowna (Cavan) V st Broughans ( Offaly)
( I have no affiliation to either club or county !!)

At circa 5 mins remaining score per electronic scoreboard was 3-6 to 2-6 to Offaly - Cavan won a penalty ( soft and marginal if it was inside ) which they converted - Offaly went back downfield and scored a point so one point up by my count but scoreboard was now 3-7 to 3-7 ( seemingly based on a correction instruction by the ref to increase gowna score by 1 ( didn't see Gowna complaining about missing a score )

Worth noting the ref is intercounty men's senior

At this point Offaly officials were incensed with standside lines woman / then Cavan scored a winner game over

Every Offaly player and official were aghast remonstrating with lineswoman and Ref
This saw ugly scenes in tunnel and a 30 minute sit in by the Offaly team - bizarrely they were joined by dunmanway who also felt aggrieved at losing to Gowna in semi final

The presentation of trophy Continued ( from GAA president) under cloud off boos from losers and responding hand gestures from victors

Sit in from St Broughans and Dunmanway interputted warm up of girls final + a 40 minute delay In that game and also saw encroachment into stands to challenge GAA president on the outcome

Bizarre stuff / Anyone else from HS see the events

On a positive note I have to say the Féile is a fantastic tournament, It was great to see everyone come together and celebrate our national games and great to see the clubs make friend's and it brought a great buzz to the community, there was some fantastic football on display not only in the first round of games but also in the Semi final's and final's I saw today in Clones, was very impressed with South London,
I also saw that New York won Division one up in Cavan

Saw the D1 final New York v Portlsoise
New York are a serious outfit

Also Glanmire won girls D1 Final with a serious performance - had some good times with cork families in Cavan Hotel on Saturday night - looked seriously prepared today too in their set up.

Had a Fantastic weekend, hosted by Cavan club, played semi final outside enniskillen today, anyone know story with Philadelphia replaying qfinal, other team were dreadful at end of game, parents etc fighting.

Has Feile lost it's gloss. Heard all year the Feile was in Cavan/Monaghan/Fermanagh, you win your county title and then go on to represent your county to perhaps win an all ireland in theory.

But then guess what they move the so called big counties to the Sligo Centre of Excellence. Kerry, Cork, Derry, Dublin, Down and Galway, now a fantastic team from "The Burren" are All Ireland Champions, what a night it must have been for them with Down also knocking out Monaghan in Ulster. But not a bit of publicity, because the elite competition was effectively played behind closed doors.

If they are going to do that then play your county, then your provience and then have these semi finals and finals at Croke Park.

How are you lost, Austin Stacks, Douglas, Donegal Town, Letterkenny, Na Fianna, Skerries Harp, The Burren amoung under teams played in the elite competition in Sligo.

Lost here also

In the girls Division one this weekend We had Southern gaels Kerry, Glanmire, ClareGalway, fox rock - cabinteeley, Westport, emyvale, Killygarry etc.

So Cork, Mayo, Dublin, Kerry ( what counties play in super league you mention ?)

Ok gotcha .. that's not elite that's just sad... let them at it ..who cares ? Not me .. that's not feile that's a development weekend for u14s in which any enjoyment was squeezed out of them unless targets were met ... stats were up ... bla bla bla .... glad my kids got to feel tithe real thing

Seems like a bizarre situation. The Offaly club obviously felt very strongly that they'd been robbed of the draw if they were willing to g to such lenghths post game.

It's very bad form from either one of the clubs as I'd have no doubt that there are people on both sides who know exactly what the score was.

Apparently they had to act. Some so called power clubs arrived to the host families with diet sheets. They then proceeded to kick the local club up and down the pitch in a relentless show of power at the Friday night games.

There is also a story of a team from our "Capital" been brought on a warm weather training camp(Portugal) by a well to do daddy during the Easter holidays prior to playing at the Feile weekend in the past year or two!!!!

doesn't matter what the scoreboard said, it's what score the ref has in his notebook.
Feile has now lost some of its appeal as the powers in croke have decided in their glorious wisdom to seed the competition and the " elite hmm " counties winners go to play in a separate competition whilst their second team play in feile na Gael /na Og.
Sounds like there was a lot of bad feelings about at the football competition, not very sporting from the so called adults. On another note, it's really sad to see this brilliant festival of gaelic games does not get the coverage or recognition that it deserves. When you look at the milk cup soccer tournament played in the north coast every year and the coverage it gets in the media the gaa have a lot to learn on promotion of games, especially youth games which are sometimes a lot better than the adult equivalent

Ye was at the match broughans were 3 06 to 2 06 up gowna got a soft penalty 3 06 to 3 06 broughans got a point no doubt in anybodys mind 3 07 to 3 06 gowna got a free to level it and then the scoreboard read 3 08 to 3 07 to gowna cavan ref cavan scoreboard person absolute joke only in the gaa

The Burren from County Down are the Boys Feile champions at the highest level. There are other lower divisional winners as per the division they play in.

New York won the division one final yesterday in Breffni Park
They were presented with the cup by the GAA president

Was there another division ? - is this the same competition ? - how many teams ? - how do you qualify ? Who won the girls
Do New York get promoted to this new division ?

Yes, further Division between the elite and the also rans

No - the other one is far more important

Cheque for €10,000 made payable to GAA, Croke Park

The prize of a load of girls was deemed a bit inappropriate so it was replaced by an actual Trophy.

Do New York get promoted to this new division?
Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha. No see answer to "How many teams" - they don't meet the criteria.

yep, a blue county team who won both the football and hurling feile in same year and also sent diet sheets to host families { I shit you not }. you also had an antrim team in hurling feile several years back staying in a hotel instead of with host families { which is where the spirit of feile as it was intended } to avoid distractions. Now it is being taken so serious by some clubs who are preparing u14 teams like county panels.

The management had been tipped off on the renowned beauty of the young cailíní in the locality and the poor culinary skills of their mothers - neither of which were in keeping with the spirit of Féile.
