Wicklow will face Kildare in the quarter-finals of the Leinster senior football championship in a fortnight’s time after seeing off Carlow by 2-12 to 0-10 in Aughrim this afternoon.
Oisin McConville’s men took a while to get motoring in this derby and it was Michael Stone’s goal at the end of the first-half which saw them into the lead.
Stone’s strike saw the Garden men 1-5 to 0-6 in front at the half and points from JP Hurley, Mark Kenny and Eoin Darcy (free) after the turnaround saw them move five clear.
Carlow could count themselves unlucky to see scoring chances from Josh Moore and Conor Doyle come back off the uprights.
At the other end, Darcy and Gearoid Murphy were able to keep the scoreboard moving for Wicklow prior to the latter hammering in their second goal to cement their place in the last eight against the Lilywhites.
