Wexford GAA has vowed to take a ‘zero tolerance’ approach to anti-social behaviour at Chadwicks Wexford Park following a number of incidents involving youths last weekend.

Gardaí are investigating one such incident which saw a 12-year-old girl attacked by a group of young females outside the ground during the county SHC preliminary quarter-final between Rapparees and Oulart-The Ballagh. A video of the incident has been widely viewed and shared online.

An email sent to clubs on Monday read: “Unfortunately, we had a small number of serious incidents among teenage children at last weekend’s games.

“There has been a growing trend of teenagers attending games in groups without adult supervision (especially games under floodlights).

“As you are aware, there is free entry to our championship games for under 16s when accompanied by an adult. We would like to see as many children as possible attend to watch our games, but we cannot tolerate a continuation of the anti-social behaviour we experienced last weekend.”

Wexford GAA added in a social media post that it “seeks to provide a safe and family atmosphere for all attending our games, and will take all necessary steps to achieve this. There will be zero tolerance of unacceptable behaviour.”
