Lough Lene Gaels and Castletown Geoghegan contested a competitive U16 Camogie fixture for a third time in 2026, in the process of contesting this particular fixture. Their first meeting in 2026, a U16 Camogie league match, ended in a draw, Lough Lene Gaels 5.05 (20) Castletown Geoghegan 3.11 (20). Castletown Geoghegan went on to impressively win the 2026 U16 Camogie league competition. When the clubs contested an earlier Divisional match of the 2026 U16 Division 1 Camogie championship, Lough Lene Gaels 4.10 Castletown Geoghegan 1.03, was the match result. The same clubs also contested the 2025 U16 U16
Division 1 Camogie championship shield final, a match won by Lough Lene Gaels on a 6.08 to 0.06 scoreline. For their part, Castletown Geoghegan were very impressive in a victory versus Raharney in a semi final match of this competition. Lough Lene Gaels defeated Brownstown/Castlepollard in the other semi final of this competition, having trailed as half time as regards the then match scoreline. As regards last Saturday’s contest, the even nature of its first half was accurately defined in its half time scoreline, Lough Lene Gaels 1.04 Castletown Geoghegan 0.07. In the second half, Lough Lene Gaels scored 4.04 while Castletown Geoghegan replied by scoring 0.07. Lough Lene Gaels won this fixture by a margin of nine points. Lough Lene Gaels overcame a very competitive Raharney XV to win the final of the 2026 U16 Camogie Championship Cup category. Unlike the previous two competitive fixtures played in the age grade of camogie previous in 2026, Lough Lene Gaels were tested in all facets of their collective camogie playing capacity to emerge winners of this fixture. Lough Lene Gaels 2.03 Raharney 0.01, was the match scoreline at half time. Lough Lene Gaels Camogie Club Camogie club very sincerely congratulates its 2016 squad of U14 players and team management on the winning of this competition. Lough Lene Gaels Camogie Club has now won the Cup category of the U14 Division 1 Camogie championship for four years in succession.
