Ballycomoyle GAA Notes

April 06, 2026

The official opening of our new playground at the GAA grounds in Ballycomoyle took place on Thursday evening last, 2nd April.

Although it was a wet and blustery evening, we were delighted to see such a good attendance of parents, visitors, and children, many of whom went on to enjoy their underage training after the opening ceremony.

Councillor Alfie Devine was in attendance, and the ribbon was officially cut by our Honorary President, Larry Masterson.

Our Chairperson thanked those who helped fund the project, including the Department of Rural and Community Development and Westmeath County Council. She also expressed sincere appreciation to the hardworking committee and all members of Ballycomoyle who continue to support the club as we develop and improve our facilities.

We were also pleased to welcome the Westmeath Topic to the event.

To round off the evening, parents and visitors enjoyed a warm cup of tea and a sweet treat.

Under 12 Report.

Our U12s had their first game of the year on a bright and blustery Good Friday evening. The wind made it a game of two halves. We were dominant in the 1st half and then were in defensive mode for most of the 2nd. It was a very enjoyable game for the spectators and the boys were happy with the game. The defensive line was solid too with some crucial blocks being made when needed. Overall great effort by everyone and some excellent teamwork shown throughout.
