Feile Na nGael Camogie Competition
Lough Lene Gaels Camogie Club contested both the Divisional phase and the final of the Division 1 Feile na nGael Camogie Cup Competition over the weekend of Saturday and Sunday April 12th and 13th.
Raharney was the venue where all Divisional phase fixtures of this competition were played on Saturday April 12th. Lough Lene Gaels played three minutes, defeating Brownstown and Castletown Geoghegan and drawing with Raharney. Lough Lene Gaels and Raharney qualified for the final of this competition for the fourth year in succession. The final was played at the grounds of The Downs GFC/LGFC on Sunday April 13th. At half time, the teams were level at Lough Lene Gaels 0.01 Raharney 0.01. Alisha Kennedy scored the Lough Lene Gaels point. Defences dominated much of general second half play, with clear cut scoring opportunities difficult to create.
With the end of normal playing time almost reached, a scramble for possession of the ball in the Raharney goalmouth ended with Aimee O'Neill scoring a match winning goal for Lough Lene Gaels, thus preventing for the first time in the 39 years existence of Lough Lene Gaels Camogie Club, defeat in the final of the same competition for three years in succession. Lough Lene Gaels Camogie Club warmly and sincerely congratulates it's 2025 U15 squad of players and management on this success.

Sincere Sympathy
Lough Lene Gaels Camogie Club extends its sincere sympathy to the family of John O'Farrell, Drumcree, whose death on Tuesday April 8th brought great sadness to the Collinstown Fore Drumcree locality. John was a brilliant Hurling coach and tactician, and possessed a lovely personality, with a kind and jovial word for everyone that crossed paths with him.
John also followed with positive interest the playing fortunes of Lough Lene Gaels Camogie Club and was a generous supporter of its fund raising activities. His presence will be very sincerely and sadly missed. RIP John.
