All Ireland Tier 2 SHC - McDonagh Cup Round 1 - Sunday 21/04/2024

 

Westmeath went down to a defeat to Kerry in a Round 1 fixture of the All Ireland senior Hurling Tier 2 Championship - McDonagh Cup, that was played at Mullingar's TEG Cusack Park on Sunday April 27th. 

Westmeath 1.14 (17) Kerry 1.20 (23), was the match result. 

Sincere commiserations to Westmeath, as regards that match result. Lough Lene Gaels player Thomas Doyle scored Westmeath's goal.

 

All Ireland Tier 2 SHC - McDonagh Cup Round 2 - Saturday 27/04/2024

 

Lough Lene Gaels Hurling Club extends sincere best wishes to Westmeath, and its player representatives in particular, for a round 2 fixture of the All Ireland senior Hurling Championship - Tier 2, Westmeath v Offaly. 

This round 2 fixture is scheduled to be played at Tullamore next Saturday, April 27th, with a 3pm match starting time.

Saturday April 27th - Venue Castlepollard. 

Castlepollard v Lough Lene Gaels 7pm.

 

ACHL D2 Fixture - Round 4

 

Thursday April 25th - Venue Rochfortbridge.

St Brigids v Lough Lene Gaels 7pm.

 

Lotto 

 

Numbers drawn at a lotto draw, held at Collinstown Hall on Sunday night, April 14th, for a jackpot of €1900, were 6, 19, 23 and 28. The jackpot was not won. Three Match 3 winners each won €50, and they are, Francis Carley, Seamus Ward and TJ and Padraig Hannon. Ticket sellers were, Yearly Ticket, Lough Lene Gaels Camogie Club and the Lough Lene Inn, Collinstown. Next lotto draw, for a jackpot of €2000, at Collinstown Hall on Sunday night April 28th at 9.15pm.

 

Leinster U20 Hurling Championship 

 

Westmeath played Carlow in a Tier 2 fixture of the Leinster U20 Hurling Championship on Saturday April 20th at Mullingar's TEG Cusack Park. Westmeath qualified to contest last Saturday's fixture, by finishing on top of a Tier 2 qualifying group, ahead of Meath and Derry. 

Westmeath played very well versus Carlow, winning last Saturday's fixture by a margin of 14 points on a 3.26 (35) to 2.15 (21) scoreline. 

Lough Lene Gaels Hurling Club warmly and sincerely congratulates Westmeath's panel of players, especially the Na Piarsaigh player representatives in particular, and the Westmeath team management on last Saturday's positive result. Spring Clean Up - Next Saturday 

 

Lough Lene Gaels Hurling Club takes this opportunity to state that the spring 2024 clean up, takes place a the Collinstown Hurling and Camogie grounds next Saturday, April 27th, getting underway at 10am. Lough Lene Gaels Hurling Club requests as many persons as possible, to please make themselves available to help and assist in this clean up exercise.

Lough Lene Gaels Hurling Club extends its sincere sympathy to the wife and family of past Lough Lene Gaels Hurling Club player, Patrick (Patsy) Fitzsimons, Navan, Meath, previously Cummerstown, Collinstown, who died on Tuesday April 16th. RIP.

 

Lough Lene Gaels Hurling Club extends its sincere Sympathy to Lorna McCormack of Corbally, Castlepollard, bereaved on Saturday March 30th by the death of her mother, Anne Kelly, Athboy, Meath. RIP.

 

Lough Lene Gaels Hurling Club extends its sincere sympathy to its past player, Andrew (Andy) Cosgrave, and family, Clondeliever, Collinstown, bereaved on Friday April 19th, by the death of Andrew's wife, Una. RIP.

 

Leinster Minor Hurling Championship 

 

Lough Lene Gaels Hurling Club extends its warm and sincere congratulations to the Westmeath Panel of players, in particular its Na Piarsaigh representatives, and team management, on a win versus Antrim in a fixture of the Leinster Minor Hurling Championship. 

 

The match result of that fixture was Westmeath 1.27 (30) Antrim 2.14 (20), played at Mullingar's TEG Cusack Park on Saturday April 20th.
