Promotion achieved by Seniors in League:

Our Senior team have capped off a marvellous early season by gaining promotion from Division 4 of the All County Football league after two wins in the past week.

It has been over 10 years since we last played in Division 3 as there was a few very hard years where we dropped three divisions in successive years. The worm has turned thankfully and successive promotions show great progress. There will be a league final to look forward to in early June but the opposition has yet to be decided. Looking at our two games in the past week, we played Shandonagh on Sunday 14th May and it was a game where we led by 1-05 to 0-2 at half time. A strong comeback from Shandonagh in the second half saw the game turn into a tough battle where in the end we won by three points on a score of 2-10 to 1-10. Next up was a back fixture against neighbours Rosemount on Friday 19th May in Rosemount.

The home side had a great start with a goal inside the opening minutes but we gradually got a grip and held a 0-7 to 1-1 lead at half time. It was nip and tuck in the second half with both sides having periods of dominance. We held a 0-10 to 1-4 lead going into the final five minutes before Rosemount levelled matters with their second goal. A quick response from substitutes Jamie Mc Donnell with a point and a Josh Gannon goal put us four ahead by 1-11 to 2-4 as the game head towards its conclusion. Rosemount hit back with a point and went in search of an equalising goal but had to be satisfied with a point which concluded the game with St Josephs ahead by two points at the finish.

Adult Fixtures ahead:

We conclude our Division 4 regular season campaign on Tuesday 23rd May when we play The Downs and on Thursday 25th May we play Ballymore in Division 7 with both games at 7-30pm. The following week we have two Division 7 games against Maryland and Tang respectively with those games on Tuesday 30th May and Friday 2nd June.
