National Club Draw

Our sincere thanks to everyone who has supported us to date. Less than two weeks remain of selling tickets for the National Club Draw. There are many great prizes on offer including the top prize of a Renault Clio Dynamique! Tickets cost €10 with all proceeds going towards the running of our club. The Covid-19 pandemic has severely curtailed our club fundraising efforts with us being unable to run our club lotto, annual table quiz, car wash and other events so this fundraiser is most important for our club this year, especially as we are undertaking major development work at our pitch. As we cannot sell tickets door to door presently, we are appealing to all to buy their tickets using the following secure link: https://www.idonate.ie/raffle/BallinagoreGAADraw. Alternatively, if you contact Paul on 086 8318124 or Mark on 086 8093180, they will look after you. If you can, please support us over the coming week and encourage family and friends to do so too!

Club Championship

Last week we included details of the proposed championships and competitions for the year ahead. These planning committee proposals were presented at a full meeting of our county board last week. In the main, competitions were accepted as proposed however there was an interesting debate on the strucuture of the junior football championship where the planning committees format was stacked up against an alternative format which was proposed by our own club at the county convention in December, essentially a return to the older junior championship structure. Our delegates, Mark King and Liam McDaniel, did a great job outlining the merits of our proposal and a lively discussion followed which culminated in a vote. When the votes were counted, the result was a decision to revert to the older junior championship format so as it stands, and fully depending on the global pandemic and restrictions in place later this year, Ballinagore will now be in a group with the other junior clubs for the group stages of the championship while the second teams of clubs entering this years junior football championship will battle it out against each other in the early stages, with qualifers of both groups then meeting at the knockout stages.
