 Crookedwood GAA Notes

Ireland Lights UP

Crookedwood GAA Club will be participating in the Ireland Lights Up 2021. However, it is now postponed until the 1st of February, when hopefully things will be better in the community. The GAA Healthy Club ‘Every Step Counts’ Challenge in partnership with Irish Life’s MyLife App will proceed as planned. The initiative is now started and will continue for the next 8 weeks. The “Every Step Counts Challenge” is a virtual challenge and everyone can get involved. Any club that tracks more than 4,000km during the challenge will be entered into a prize draw, where there are 3x O'Neills vouchers up for grabs - €2,500, €1,500 & €1,000.

So, it’s time to get out walking and upload your kilometres to the MyLife App. To take part, download the free MyLife app from GooglePlay/App Store

Tap on the social tab on the MyLife app, select challenges, select Leinster, tap on join & select Crookedwood GAA Club. While it would be nice to win something, our main objective is to get everyone out and moving, for the good of your health. For the competitive people, there is a leaderboard on the app, so challenge someone you know to cover more kms than you and see who comes out on top, all friendly fun of course.

Community help

As we have moved into a Level 5 lockdown again, we would like to reassure you that Crookedwood GAA is available to help all in the community with anything and everything that needs to be done, e.g., to get your shopping, prescriptions, fuel supplies, etc. If you, or someone you know needs assistance, please contact any of the following or any committee member. Feichin Brennan (087-6744651), Gerry Butler (087-4129846), Derek Orme (086-8736636), Deirdre Orme (087-0547791), Ciaran McKenna (087-2777444), Barbara Orme (087-6103611).

Lotto

The most recent draw was held on Thursday 7th January with the following results: the numbers drawn were 10,14,15,24 and there was no jackpot winner. The prize winners were Derek Doolan (online), Ciara Orme and Chris McCarthy (online). The next draw will be on Thursday 21st January for a €6,000 jackpot. Like all clubs, normal fundraising activities have been put on hold for the foreseeable future. To that end we are asking all club supporters, near and far to support our lotto as this is the only means we have available to pay the bills. You can now play online via the link; www.klubfunder.com and search for CrookedwoodGAAClub/lotto. It is easy to play and set-up an account if you wish to do so. For smartphone users there is also an app called Klubapp where you can select Crookedwood as your club and play the lotto at the touch of a button. This gives Crookedwood people all over the world a simple option to support the club. We are still accepting cash payments if the online method is not for you. There is also an option to pay in advance for a year, please contact any club member and the paperwork can be posted or emailed to you. Thank you for your continued support.

Walking Track

Even though all GAA activities have been suspended, the walking track will be open and lit up every evening for paid up members to avail of a safe area to exercise. Social distancing guidelines must be adhered to while using the track.
