Clonea ensured their status in the Waterford senior hurling championship for next season after seeing off Tallow by 1-23 to 1-15 last night in Dungarvan.
Jason Gleeson struck a dozen points for the winners while James Power hammered in an important goal late on to secure the result.
Tallow skipper Ian Beecher (0-10) had kept his team right in this relegation playoff until Power’s goal found the net in the 53rd minute, making it 1-16 to 0-13.
An eventual eight-point defeat for four-time champions now sees them slip down to the intermediate ranks for the first time in 37 years.
