A well-known club footballer from Waterford has won a whopping £250,000 on the iconic TV quiz programme Who Wants to be a Millionaire?

Ger Crowley, who won a county SFC medal with Stradbally in 2017 but now lives in London where he continues to play GAA, was a contestant on the ITV game show last Sunday night. The show was recorded in February 2023, meaning he had to keep his success a secret for over a year.

The 28-year-old Post Doctoral Researcher in Neuroscience is planning to use his winnings to travel around Australia and New Zealand.
