Mullane: players should get slice of GAAGO pie

John Mullane believes players should be paid if the GAA continues to put some of its big championship matches behind a paywall.

The Waterford great’s comments come after former Cork goalkeeper and Sunday Game panellist Dónal Óg Cusack claimed the "GAA has failed hurling" by opting to show the recent Munster SHC blockbusters between Clare and Limerick, and Cork and Tipperary, on GAAGO instead of free-to-air TV.

“I heard people saying last night 'Donal Óg is going to feel the wrath of the top boys in RTÉ', it shouldn't be the way. If he feels strongly on that and that's his opinion, he's entitled to give his opinion,” Mullane told The Throw-In podcast.

“I am 100% with him, I feel as strongly on it as well. I just think if we're going down this avenue of pay-per-view, we're cutting a lot of our audience out.

“If they want to go down pay-per-view, grand, you've got to go and pay the players then. You've got to pay the players if you're going to go down that avenue.”
