Jamie Boyle is challenging his New York team-mates to build on last Saturday’s historic Connacht SFC victory over Leitrim.

The Exiles’ dramatic penalty shootout win at Gaelic Park has paved the way for a provincial semi-final meeting with Sligo at Markievicz Park next weekend. It will be their second trip to Ireland in less than a year after their first appearance on Irish soil in 21 years last June ended in a heavy Tailteann Cup quarter-final defeat to Offaly at Glenisk O’Connor Park.

"I hope the view on us now is that we are a team that can compete and win these games. Not make this a one-hit wonder," the corner back told RTÉ Radio 1’s The Championship.

"Let’s continue to show that we can compete with these teams and we can win. I hope we have changed the narrative a little bit, but we have to keep winning.

"We know how good Sligo are, we played them last year. We have the utmost respect for them.”
