Tyrone star Conor Meyler is hoping that the work put in since the team’s Ulster SFC quarter-final loss to Monaghan stands to them as they get set to head into the All-Ireland SFC group stage.

Tuesday’s draw saw the Red Hands into group two of the new format alongside the winners of the Connacht final (Galway or Sligo), the losers of the Ulster final (Armagh or Derry) and Tailteann Cup champions Westmeath.

Speaking to GAA.ie this week, Meyler said that there is “definitely a renewed focus” for the group heading into Group 2.

“I think we are chomping at the bit now to get a game,” the Omagh St Enda’s man stated. “The group stage format for me is exciting too, you are just getting an opportunity to play more games against top teams at this level. So, a renewed focus, for sure.”

He added: “For us there was huge disappointment after losing to Monaghan, but you are looking at the format now, we have had a bit of time to push really hard in training, get ourselves right, analyse ourselves - where did we go wrong?

“What are we going to work on. That time has been really valuable. So hopefully it stands to us now when the group stages come.”
