Aaron Niland struck for 3-8 as Galway saw off Wexford by 4-13 to 1-8 in the Leinster U20 hurling championship Phase 2 Tier 1 at Laois Hire O'Moore Park this afternoon.

After against a stiff wind in the first-half in Portlaoise, the Tribesmen took in a 2-4 to 0-6 half-time lead thanks to senior star Niland’s first two goals.

At the other end, Wexford had just had one point from play in the opening period via Podge Doyle before bringing it back to a two-point game early in the restart with scores from Jack Nolan and Sean O’Brien.

Niland completed his hat-trick after that and while O’Brien pulled back a major for the Slaneysiders, Harry Holmes would come off the bench to raise a fourth green flag for Galway late on.

In Parnell Park, Dublin were comfortable in their 3-15 to 0-10 win over neighbours Meath.

Callum Graham (2) and Callum Graham registered the goals in what was a 14-point victory in the end, while Antrim cruised to a 3-22 to 1-12 win against Westmeath at Dovida Lakepoint Park.

The visitors opened up an early 1-3 to 0-1 lead and didn’t look back, with Cadhan Crawford netting their second goal midway through the first-half as they went on towards a commanding 2-17 to 1-7 half-time lead.

Charlie McCauley fired in the Saffrons’ second goal a minute into the resumption as they went on to record an emphatic win over the hosts.

Holders Kilkenny defeated Kildare on a 1-16 to 0-10 scoreline in Hawkfield where Henry Shefflin’s side produced a strong finish to secure the win.

Patrick Lacey’s goal helped the Cats to hold a 1-7 to 0-4 advantage at the halfway stage before Kildare battled back to within three points with the help of some superb scores from Tom Power.

The visitors responded with points from senior star David Barcoe, Ollie O’Donovan, Jake Mullen and Lacey to ice their six-point victory in the end.

Elsewhere, the earlier game in Portlaoise saw Offaly coming from behind to defeat Laois by 1-20 to 2-16.

Having trailed by 0-10 to 0-7 at half-time, Laois were level early in the second-half thanks to a Cormac Byrne goal and the John Harnett’s lads would go on to trail by three before levelling and then conceding another Laois goal.

Offaly hit back with a Patrick Lyons goal in the 55th minute and landed a couple of late points through Odhran Fletcher and Sean Carey to see out the hard fought win.
