John Kiely believes next weekend's Allianz Hurling League Division 1 semi-final against Tipperary is the "best possible preparation" for his Limerick side.

With thoughts turning to the Championship where the Treaty County will go in search of a four-in-a-row of All-Irelands, Kiely welcomed another competitive game after they completed their Group A campaign with a 2-20 to 0-15 victory over Wexford yesterday.

“Tipp are the form team of the league,” he told reporters.

“You’re not going to be ready for championship without games, so this is absolutely the best possible preparation. Any team knocked out this weekend is wondering where we’re going to get a game next weekend, whereas we know straight away.

"Our axe is going to be well sharpened.”
