Goalkeeper Martin McEneaney was the St Patrick’s hero after he kept the Lordship club in the Louth SFC with a humongous 65-metre free against St Mochta’s in Darver last Sunday night.

St Mochta’s won by 0-16 to 0-15, but bowed out of the Joe Ward Cup race on scoring difference after McEneaney’s booming score – which was tipped over for a one-pointer – in the fourth-minute of stoppage time saw St Pat’s progress to the knockout stages from the group along with Dreadnots.

“It’s all about technique. It’s not about forcing the ball,” the St Pat’s ‘keeper said of the free when speaking to LMFM.

McEneaney finished with 0-3 to his credit, while a relegation playoff now awaits St Mochta’s, despite their one-point win.
