Antrim hurling manager Davy Fitzgerald has been issued an eight-week suspension for his comments following the Saffrons’ Leinster SHC loss to Galway two weeks ago.
The game in Salthill saw the Tribesmen cruising to a 28-point win against Fitzgerald’s men, with the visitors having had Declan McCloskey red cared in the run up to half-time.
Speaking to RTE Sport after the game, Fitzgerald went on to launch a scathing attack on the game’s match officials.
"It was Johnny Murphy that seen it and Johnny Murphy now wouldn't have any time for me anyway - that’s out there," said the Antrim boss.
"Everybody knows that himself and one or two more of them, they actually despise me and that's fine, I can get over that. But don't take it out on the players, you have to see everything."
Since then, the Clare native was charged by the GAA with 'misconduct considered to have discredited the association' and requested a hearing which was held on Friday.
The Central Hearings Committee (CHC) confirmed they found the infraction proven, and have imposed an eight-week ban on Fitzgerald who now has the option of appealing the decision.
