Meath manager Robbie Brennan has refused to be drawn on the circumstances surrounding the shock departures of coaches Joe McMahon and Martin Corey.

Facing the media for the first time since the pair left their roles a week before last Sunday’s comfortable Leinster SFC opening round victory over Carlow, Brennan would only say on the matter: “The overriding feeling is just disappointment that they are gone unfortunately. From a players and management group perspective, the onus is on us to make sure we keep driving it forward.”

When asked if he planned to replace McMahon and Corey before next Sunday’s quarter-final against Offaly, the Dunboyne man replied: “We are happy enough with what we have at the moment. That’s still open to discussion, but it hasn’t really come up because all the focus was on this game.

“We’ll look at it as we go but there wouldn’t be any major panic.”
