Clare 2013 All-Ireland SHC winner and dual star Podge Collins has announced his inter-county retirement.

One of the last dual players to grace the inter-county scene, Collins made his senior debut for the Clare hurlers in 2012 before going on to star in their Liam MacCarthy Cup triumph the following year. His performances in the Banner attack saw him win an All-Star and shortlisted for Hurler of the Year where he lost out to team-mate Tony Kelly.

Thereafter, he committed to football for two seasons before returning to hurling action in 2016 and winning an Allianz League medal. Since then, the Cratloe clubman has concentrated solely on football and was part of the Clare team to achieved promotion from Division 4 to Division 2 of the Allianz League under his father Colm’s guidance.

He also featured prominently in the Banner’s run to last year’s All-Ireland SFC quarter-final.
