The Laois hurling fraternity is in mourning following the sudden passing of John ‘Jack’ Delaney at the age of just 28.

The Clough-Ballacolla hurler collapsed while out for a run near his home in Ballacolla on Tuesday afternoon and passed away a short time later. He was the youngest son of Tim and Eileen, and is also survived by his brothers Tim and Tom, and sister Sarah.

A past-student of Clough National School, Cistercian College Roscrea and DIT, John worked in the family furniture business in Portlaoise.
