Ben O'Carroll scored 1-7 as St Brigid's caused a mild surprise by beating Corofin 1-13 to 2-5 in the Connacht Club SFC final at Dr Hyde Park.

A strong start laid the foundations for the Kiltoom side's victory, a decade on from their famous All-Ireland success. O'Carroll posted an unanswered 1-2 in the early stages, with his goal coming from a penalty after Alan Daly was fouled by Corofin goalkeeper Bernard Power. It was the perfect start for St Brigid's who had struggled over Leitrim champions Mohill in the semi-final at the same venue.

Liam Silke pulled a goal back for Corofin, but they still trailed by 1-2 to 1-6 at half-time.

Dylan McHugh raised a second green flag for the Galway kingpins in the second half, but with Brian Stack, Pearse Frost and Ruaidhrí Fallon excellent in defence, the Roscommon representatives were crowned provincial champions for a fifth time and first time since 2012.

They will face the winners of next Sunday's Munster Club SFC final between Dingle and Castlehaven for a place in the All-Ireland final.
