A little piece of history was made on Bank Holiday Monday when Carrick and Cluainín Iomáint contested the first Leitrim U17 hurling final.
While early goals from Jamie Ryan and Pearse Kenny set up Carrick for a 4-9 to 1-7 victory, the real winner was Leitrim hurling. Cluainín Iomáint, which is the sister club of Glencar/Manorhamilton, will have an opportunity to turn the tables when they face their five-in-a-row chasing Carrick-on-Shannon opponents in the Leitrim SHC final in Ballinamore this coming Saturday at 2.30pm.
TweetCongrats to Carrick Hurling and Glencar Manorhamilton for playing the first ever U17 County Hurling final today in County Leitrim. Two great teams keeping hurling going in Leitrim. Carrick just pulled through but great credit to both teams on a great game @LeitrimGAA pic.twitter.com/yB1Dermv6b
