Tipperary manager Liam Cahill said he was delighted to see his team getting a result in Saturday night’s Munster senior hurling championship thriller against Cork.

The Premier men looked like taking both points against Rebels when they led by five in the closing stages at Pairc Ui Chaoimh, but goals from Darragh Fitzgibbon and Brian Hayes would level the clash heading into injury-time.

Seamus Callanan put Tipp back in front prior to Shane Kingston’s point snatching a 4-19 to 2-25 draw for the home side and, speaking to Tipp FM, Cahill had no complaints after what was an epic encounter.

“Delighted to get something out of the game. It was, I’d say, a rollercoaster to look at; it definitely was on the line anyway, trying to keep track of what was going on,” he said.

“An exciting game, a game with a lot of skill in it but also a lot of errors, and that contributed to such drama.

“Delighted to get something out of the game, as I said, very, very proud of the way the Tipperary players responded to every sucker blow that came from Cork.

“Cork were exceptional as well; they never went away all day.”
