Sligo are through to the All-Ireland U20 football championship final after edging out Kerry by 1-8 to 0-9 in Salthill this evening.

Ronan Niland’s 12th minute goal proved key for the Connacht champions as they came from behind to see off the Kingdom and advance to their first Clarke Cup decider.

Rob Monaghan’s early points had Kerry 0-3 to 0-1 up before Niland’s strike as the sides traded points from there until the interval when the scoreboard read 0-6 to 1-3.

James Donlon’s free steered the Yeats County in front in the opening minute of the resumption before Tomás O Se’s lads hit back with scores from Cian McMahon and Willam Shine.

However, they’d only register one more point from there to the end, as Luke Marren (free), Brian Byrne and Daire O’Boyle landed points down the hope stretch to steer Sligo through to a decider date against either Down or Kildare next Saturday.
