Galway defender Dylan McHugh expects Sligo will “be throwing the kitchen sink” at the Tribesmen this Sunday when the two sides clash at Castlebar for the Connacht senior football championship crown.

Padraic Joyce’s men are gunning for their county’s 48th provincial crown, which would tie the record currently held by neighbours Mayo, and are 1/50 favourites to retain the JJ Nestor Cup at MacHale Park this weekend.

However, Corofin man McHugh knows that it’ll be no easy task against a Sligo side with plenty of talented options in their attack.

"They'll be throwing the kitchen sink at us,” he told GAA.ie. “They have great forwards: [Paddy] O'Connor, [Niall] Murphy, [Seán] Carrabine, they're all great players that need to be watched.

“I would have played underage with Galway against Sligo a lot, and a lot of those lads will be playing against us.

“I know they're good footballers, they have loads of momentum as well. They've only lost one league game so they'll be full of confidence. We need to be ready."
