St Brigid's ease to opening win in Roscommon SFC

Holders St Brigid’s hit the ground running in the 2024 Roscommon senior football championship by cruising past Michael Glaveys with a 0-17 to 0-6 win in Ballinlough yesterday.

Wing back Conor Hand starred with six points for the Connacht champions, who landed 16 of their 17 points from open play on the evening as they booked an emphatic opening win.

Tulsk also made a winning start in this year’s Fahey Cup race by seeing off Oran (3-7 to 0-15), while Roscommon Gaels handed newcomers Castlerea St Kevin’s a 2-15 to 1-10 defeat at O’Rourke Park.

Meanwhile, Friday evening saw Emmet Kenny’s injury-time goal proving crucial as Clann na Gael snatched a come from behind 2-11 to 2-10 victory over Padraig Pearses in Johnstown, where Ciarán Lennon's late free sealed the win for the  21-time champions.
