Roscommon GAA is seeking planning permission to develop a Centre of Excellence just outside Roscommon Town.

The Dermot Earley Centre of Excellence, which was named after the late, great Rossie midfielder way back in 2016, is finally moving a step closer to fruition after the application was submitted to the local authority last week.

The facility at Ballyboughan will comprise three full-size grass pitches, two Astroturf pitches, warm-up areas, a seated spectator terrace and a complex incorporating offices, a gym and dressing-rooms.

It comes after Roscommon GAA sold land in 2021 at Runnabracken where planning permission had already been granted for a Centre of Excellence.
