Adam Screeney struck for 1-12 as Offaly captured the Leinster U20 hurling championship title last night with a 1-21 to 0-22 win over Wexford at Netwatch Cullen Park.
The Kilcormac-Killoughey sharpshooter struck the crucial goal on 42 minutes as the Faithful men edged a thriller in Carlow and set-up an All-Ireland final date with Cork on Saturday week.
After having taken in a 0-11 to 0-9 lead at the half, Offaly fell behind early in the restart as points from Sean Rowley and Cillian Byrne sailed over and they’d get it back to 0-15 apiece before striking the game’s only goal.
Screeney made an angle for himself and did the rest and, while Wexford would get on level terms again, two Screeney frees and a point from Dan Ravenhill were enough to seal Offaly’s sixth provincial triumph in the grade.
