The St Cillians Under 16 team were in action against Tullamore

Under 12s

Our Under 12 girls had a tough match against Birr on Friday evening in Crinkle but the girls battled through and came out with a good win with the final score reading Birr 8 points, St Cillians 10 points.  Well done girls keep up the great work.

Adult League

It was a good weeks for both of our teams in the league.  In Division 3 on Friday evening our girls beat Lusmagh/Drumcullen in Carrig while on Sunday our Senior girls overcame Birr to record a comfortable win.

Under 16s

Our Under 16 girls met Tullamore in Carrig on Thursday evening in what was expected to be a close game and the match definitely lived up to its expectation.

As the teams battled early on to gain the upper hand they cancelled each other out and while Tullamore opened the scoring with a goal and a point, our girls hit back with a goal from Eabha O'Hare.  Tullamore replied with a point but St Cillians finished the half strongly with Ali Smith hitting a goal and two points.  Grace Waters hit over a point for Tullamore to leave the half time score reading St Cillians 2-2, Tullamore 1-3.

When play resumed Siofra Ginty extended the lead for St Cillians when she pointed but a three minute purple patch for Tullamore resulted in them having a four point lead when they scored two goals and a point.  A goal from Ali Smyth and a converted 45 by Siofra Ginty levelled the scoring.  Minutes later Tullamore restored their lead but Siofra levelled proceedings again when she hit over from a free.  With the game really in the melting pot a dangerous shot in from Tullamore was deflected over the bar by Grace Mahon.  A period of stalemate followed with scoring chances proving difficult to come by but with the final whistle approaching another point from Siofra levelled the scores.    In such a close contest may be a draw may have been the fairer outcome but only a minute later Tullamore were awarded a free which Niamh Hughes converted in what was to be the deciding score.

Final score:  St Cillians 3-6, Tullamore 3-7
